If the audience has ears on its knees, you DON'T need this amp stand...
Comments about Ultimate Support Amp-150 Genesis Amp Stand:
If you are an electric guitar player, you need this product, whether you know it or not.
The "combo amp" that most of us use, is an amplifier and a speaker in one box. Highly directional, it shoots sound straight ahead, wherever it's pointed. Put your amp on the ground, and your music is beamed toward your audience's knees and ankles. Put it up higher, and the sound goes toward their ears.
So you need to put your amp up on something - but what? A table? A folding chair? What if you can't find an armless chair at your venue?
You need an amplifier stand. And if you're hauling your own gear - most of us do - you need a lightweight amp stand that folds into an compact package.
And this is the Ultimate Support Amp-150 Genesis Amp Stand. I've used mine for at least ten years, to point my Jazz Chorus and my Boogie toward the ears of my audiences.
I'm looking at my Genesis Amp Stand right now. Folded, it fits easily into the little bag in which I carry my cables and a pedal or two. Open, it's a short tripod which locks into position at an adjustable angle. It has two arms that fold out, on which the amp rests. There's a telescoping extension at the rear that is threaded to hold a short boom, if I wish to mike my amp.
My Genesis Amp Stand shows a little wear on the plastic-coated arms that fold out to hold the amp. No more deterioration than this, after hundreds of gigs.
I can hold my amp at any reasonable angle with this little gadget. I can angle my amp way back to point it at my own ears, or I can select a shallower angle to point the sound forward and upward toward the crowd.
I don't need to hunt around for a folding chair any longer. This thing works great, and I'll never play an electric guitar gig without it.
If your audience has ears on its knees, you don't need this product.
But if their ears are on the sides of their heads, you do. Kudos to the Ultimate Support company for a simple, clever, handy device.
