Comments about Switchcraft 280 1/4" Straight Phone Plug:

These Switchcraft 280 plugs are among the top 2 of the old school, crimp type cable retention, plugs where quality is concerned. The tip is staked, they use a cooper base metal, relatively heavy gauge. That makes for a more reliable and durable crimp to hold the cable and a durable connector overall. The are also smoother to insert and remove from some of the stickier, cheaper jacks that seem to be showing up on more and more gear these days. I've been using these more than any other for probably 20 years or more. The newer compression type retention jacks are great but when you are building a number of cables, they get expensive, fast. At twice the price as these, I stick with these 280's. I still have some 20+ year old cords terminated with these plugs. They just work and last.

Beats The Cost of New Cables

    By

Comments about Switchcraft 280 1/4" Straight Phone Plug:

With the cost of higher quality cables, these days, it is pretty easy to justify repairing your own ends, or even making up your own cables, especially if you have more than one or two to do while you are all setup and the soldering iron is hot. At the price of these ends, it is even a better idea!

    it works

Comments about Switchcraft 280 1/4" Straight Phone Plug:

That's all got to say. If you got cheap cables or a small buzzing or feed back in your cables by a single move in your cable like mine. You just buy this, cut that cheap cable head and solder this baby in there. And it's not really expensive ether and it a really solid head. So buy one is you don't want to spend more money on a new cable

    Works great

Comments about Switchcraft 280 1/4" Straight Phone Plug:

I've had two Live Wire Roadhog cables for about 4 years. The tip connector on all but one of the plugs has recently worn out to the point that they are separated and spin when unscrewing the sleeve to reveal the wiring. A few years ago, I would have just trashed the cables after they stopped working, but now that I know how to do some simple soldering, I was able to use 4 of these plugs to make my two cables just like new.
