One of the highest output pickups made.

The Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rail Stacked Single Coil Pickup is one of the highest output pickups made. It's a humbucker that fits into a normal single-coil pickup slot, so you get noise canceling without cutting a large hole in your guitar. The 2 thin blades with powerful coil windings give you the incredible sustain and fat, full sound that's needed for playing heavier rock music. This Seymour Duncan SHR-1 pickup responds to the subtlest finger movements.

Top Choice for Total Guitar Sound on the Stratocaster!

By David Van Kleeck

from Glendale, AZ and Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

Typically, I use DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan pickups, with a foray into the EMG brand pickups every once in awhile (like their DG20 Wired Pickguard drop-in replacement for Strat). BUT, when I want to build a Strat that will gut-punch the crowd, I always use the Seymour Duncan SHR-1 to replace ANY of the single coil pickups (usually ALL THREE!). Using the SHR-1N for Neck and Mid positions, and the SHR-1B for the Bridge position, these pickups are powerful without being muddy and are surprisingly sensitive to the nuances of my playing, with a pick, a finger or hammers and pulls! Searing Highs, Punchy Mids and Chunky Lows with TOTAL clarity, I can play ANY style of music with these beauties and go from soft subtle phrasing to shredding in a nano-second! Most of my Strats have DPDT switches added to take advantage of ALL the tones available on any 4 conductor humbuckers installed, and this pickup passes with flying colors as a Single Coil AND as a Humbucker, with the coils in Parallel or in Series!

You will love these on your strat!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

I started out like about everyone else by putting one of these in the bridge of my strat. No more tin sound just huge bite! Then I decided to go for the neck. That gave my strat more tone than I ever expected. After thinking about it I realized why it works so well. Duel coils as you would expect would kick out more sound than a single but the real advantage to the neck is even better than a standard humbucker. As you know, as you move your pick or strum further up the strings toward the neck your sound gets fuller (less bright) and richer. With this size pickup the back of the thing is closer to the bridge than the back of a full size humbucker would be. So it is picking up the sound of the strings closer to the neck. With this thought in mind, if I were going to build my own axe, I would consider a big fat double like an emg for the bridge for bright bite and a hot rail in the neck for deep tones. So, what I am saying. Don't just go for the bridge, go for the neck also. In my case, I never use the middle pickup on my strat so the fender single coil is still in it.

Perfect for those who have an affinity for riffs.

By Scottie H.

from Glen Allen, Va

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

To keep it short and sweet, this pickup is perfect for rhythm guitarists who like a little bit of "chunk" and "growl" in their riffs. The balance of low-end and high output response is flawless. Keeping that in mind, this pickup isn't really built for lead-guitar playing. I'm not saying it's impossible, though. While the pickup's output is high enough to give you well defined pitches, it truly shines as a rhythm players' tool. I play a variety of metal, and my sound relies solely on that low-end chunk and high output. I have owned several typical metal guitars, and none of them can compete with my strat/hot rail combo. People usually roll their eyes when I tell them I play a strat. Don't let preconceived "metal" notions let you miss out on this pickup. This pickup is a beast, through-and-through. If I were given a large endorsement, I would buy several Strats with this pickup installed over any Gibson/Ibanez/Jackson/ESP (even if they were with EMG's), in all honesty. This pickup is the best I've played so far, hands down.

The best investment I've made in a long time!

By Miles

from Spring Valley, NY

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

I bought this pickup because the stock pickups on my Squier Strat were too noisy and the tone was too bright. At first I didn't think it was a good idea cuz the concept of a single coil sized humbucker just didn't seem practical. But once I put this thing in, it's output is high and u have so much control over your sound. It's a bold sound, but it's not muddy, and no matter what kinda distortion u got, it's so quiet! No extra noise, and it's got a much fuller sound than the stock pickups had. You can play anything with this pickup... From Hendrix to Pantera. If you want that thick humbucker sound, but don't wanna cut a huge hole in your guitar to fit it, this is your best bet.

Badass little dude

By captain espresso

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

i got one of these in the bridge postion of my squire strat to give it more of a beefy, chunky rock sound. its sounds awesome but can sometimes go a little weak on the ultra high notes, but that doesnt matter seings as very few people play that crap anyway *cough* shred. all in all, if you want a good chunky rock tone without carving a hole in your strat, this is the pickup for you.

awsome!!!

By Steve Pogue

from Tulsa Ok.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

I dropped this puppy in a 2001 USA Strat. and all I can say is OH MY GOD!!!. This pick-up rocks!!. I have a Les Paul with EMG pick-ups and this Hot Rails is every bit as hot and nasty as anything out there. If you want to turn a stock Strat. into a metal beast drop a Hot rails in the bridge position and get out of the way!!!

Outstanding

By Erico

from Oslo, Norway

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

The Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails are simply amazing.I ordered a Hot Rail to replace the bridge pickup on my Strat, so heavier stuff like Sabbath and Diamond Head would sound better. When I got the pickup (After only 4 days from the US to Norway!) I installed it in the bridge position, strung the guitar and hit the obligatory power chord.Man, was I astonished! The sound of the SHR-1 exceeded all expectations, I couldn't believe the sound difference. This is heavy stuff, and I highly recommend it.The only thing that may be a bit tricky is the installation guide which follows it.I suggest you go to www.seymourduncan.com to get the wiring diagrams from there, they are a lot easier to read.

Buy Them

By Richard-584YF

from Bergen, Norway

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

I ordered the Hotrails from Music123 about 2 weeks ago, I thought that they were at a reasonable price, so I ordered them, since I live overseas, I though that the shipping would take some long time, but actually it took just 1 week!!Good Work! And also I thought that Music123 online store was a "phoney" since the products are so ridiculously low priced! (That is a major feat)But since I got the Hotrails, I found out, obviously that Music123 exists, so thank you Music123 for proving me wrong. I haven't installed them on my Mexican strat yet, but I have played them on my buddies guitar, and they sounds GREAT! I have 3 Hotrails now, re-equipped the whole guitar, and since I know that Dave Murray (Iron maiden) Uses them, I wanted to buy them also, so if you are good at smooth legato licks and similar stuff, this is the Strat/Tele pickup for you! Also Killer Riffs on them too! Final word: GET THEM!

My Custom Rail

By P-SCJNp

from Scotland

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

I own a Fender Tele and the pickups weren't pulling their weight. I got a custom 13.5K hotrail in the bridge. And now it's got a kick. The neck has near been discarded. On clean compared to the old pickup it's a lot more bassy and the tone is warmer and fuller. The old had a harsh piercing noise, which when I played loud always made people blink. The dirty sound is amazing. Tone full up and you can hold bends for ages. The low end is real thick and powerful and the highs are fierce and powerful. It's a awesome pickup. Plays near every style. I feel the power as the amp blows out bassy hard hitting noise. A great pickup.

Get them

By Rich-qh7Zr

Comments about Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rails Stacked Single-Coil Pickup:

Excellent improvement on my strat. Can get nice bassy rock/metal tones now as well as the jazzy ones from the other p/ups. The guitar is really versatile now. Easy to install. Well worth the cash.
