Warm and smooth with great sustain.
The Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model Electric Guitar Pickup is built with the same kind of enameled wire, nickel-plated studs, and balanced coil windings that humbucker inventor Seth Lover used in his first pickups. It looks and sounds just like a '59.

Good Stuff
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
Unbelievable difference when I swapped this humbucker into a really good quality Les Paul copy I picked up when travelling in Korea. Superb pickup when used with a hi-end overdrive and great clean too. I'm in Canada, and the part got to me 3 days after ordering...great job.

The Best
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I love my '59 in the neck position of my Les Paul. It is amazing. It cleans up well, and get's nice and dirty when you crank it up. It's an awesome pick up clean or distorted. If you really want the total package add a JB in the bridge. There is a reason these are best selling pick-ups!

Nice Upgrade
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
First off, the epiphone LP std actually has decent pickups so I was a little hesitant to spend a lot on an upgrade for a practice guitar. However, the 59 proved to be a worthy investment. The sound is clearer and sweeter which allows the harmonic content to be better defined and have more character. I put a bridge and a neck 59 in the Epi and also have a pair in my Gibson LP standard...very happy with the tone but may try a JB in the bridge someday.

Versitile Pickup
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I play hard rock on several guitars, Ibanez RG7421 w/Dimarzio Blaze in the bridge, Washburn 333 w/59er(n)/Dimebucker(b), ESP MH-50 & M-100 both w/EMG 85(n)81's(b) and a Jackson Dinky w/J90's & run a Morley Steve Vai Bad Horse 2 Contour Wah into a Digitech GNX2 effects board. Beautiful tones in the neck clean or distorted. You can tap into a wide variety of sounds with this pick up. I've not had any problems with noise/hum what so ever. It's a shame I don't get to use it more since it's in the neck.

Exxxxxcellent !!
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
Installed the 59's in both the neck and bridge positions on my old Ibanez Blazer. Immediate improvement with terrific warm, clear sound!!! Highly recommended. Check the wiring on your guitar first to determine if you need single or double leads. I needed double leads but didn't know until after I made the purchase (non-returnable, by the way) and had to wire the pickups differently. Double lead pickups are available, though. The Seymour Duncan website has great wiring diagrams for multiple configurations.

balanced with high end sparkle
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I bought this and installed it in the neck pos of my ESP LTD Viper 301, replacing the lifeless EMG HZ's. What a difference, now I get a balanced tone that sparkles. I never liked clean that much on a SG until the 59 went in. Now I will do clean solos much more then I used to. Has a great sound, it brings out your guitars true sound.I don't know if I'd put one in the bridge pos however, I'm not big on having the same pickups in two positions.

Its great. It has great sustain and a great acoustic sound. It is my favorite. If you are a lover of those metallica acoustic sounds, this is the perfect humbucker.
