Seymour Duncan Blackouts are 9-volt active neck and bridge humbuckers that provide more extended frequency response with less compression. Seymour Duncan engineers have captured the tone players want in an active design with the benefits of balanced inputs.
Not only do Seymour Duncan Blackouts active humbuckers have less hum than most active humbuckers, they also have more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, the Blackouts have more tone than most active pickups. Players will find far fewer problems with hum, especially near computer monitors and fluorescent lighting.
Blackouts come as a two-pickup set of neck and bridge humbuckers. All versions come with all necessary mounting hardware, including pots, jack, and a battery clip.

I have had these for about a year now, so I figured they deserved a worthy review. I put these in a Schecter C-1 Elite and it really made an already heavy sounding guitar get even meaner sounding. I play a fusion of many different styles and these pickups do a good job of giving the active bite that I was looking for, but they also have a bit more warmth and breakup that I like in a passive pickup. Simply by rolling back the volume, one can achieve some gritty rock and roll tones. They sure aren't going to sound like an alnico magnet pickup, but I have owned EMG 81's and they deffinatley are more organic sounding. The bottom end that they provide is outstanding. Really chunky and tight. The top end is sharp enough to cut through the mix and the mids are deffinatley more present than EMG 81's. I would suggest buying this pickup if you are into metal, or progressive styles of metal that require some more eclectic elements with good clean and gritty tones. Of course, it all depends what you are running your guitar through as well. I'm running mine through a Peavey Valveking with 4x12 cab loaded with Celestion GT 75's, and various effects such as delay, reverb, chorus, and whah. The combination is outstanding but you will really have to readjust your amp to find balanced settings for these pups if you are used to passive one's. I'm looking drop a second set into another Schecter C-1 that I own because I just can't play this other guitar without wishing it had Blackouts.

Could'nt be happier with these have a set of emg's and there is not a huge difference between the 2 in my opnion . Had to route a hole in the back of my guitar because there is a pickguard on my model and there is no room in there for a battery also needed to order a battery box. all worth the effort !! in the description it didn't say it came with Capasiters but it comes with 2 and 4 potentionometers .. everything you need....great deal and less expencive than EMG

These active pickups are way better than other actives like emgs. they got more everything, high low, output. they dont sound one dimentional or cold like other active pickups do. they have a very organic sound to them. They will cut through your mix more to because the mids are slightly boosted. Dont worry metal fans your scooped mids tone wont loose anything but will gain so much more tone. I've played EMGs and after playing these ill never buy emgs again. But with the huge output and aggressiveness of these humbuckers it left whating to have a more vintage and not as aggressive neck pickup. but if you dont need that the neck pickups is great for smooth highly distorted lead runs. So these by far are the active pickups with the most tone.
