A full set of screaming, hard-hitting Blackouts.
With this set you get 2 Seymour Duncan Blackouts AHB-1 9-volt active humbuckers with metal covers for the heavy tone of a high-output bridge pickup and screaming leads from the neck.
Voiced for extreme heaviness, the Blackouts are perfect for all styles of old school metal, punk, garage, thrash, drop tunings, and heavy rock. They have a screaming voice with amazing midrange punch, producing thick, dark chords and hard-hitting leads.
Use Blackouts pickups in any humbucker-routed electric guitar. Includes 25K pots, stereo jack, battery clip, pin jumper, and other mounting hardware.
The "other" USA-made active humbuckers use unbalanced inputs in a differential preamp. The problem is, an unbalanced differential preamp is not very effective at canceling hum. Seymour Duncan engineers figured out how to capture the tone that players want in an active design, while using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, plus more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Blackouts have more tone than other active pickups.

AHB-1 Blackouts
Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts Humbucker Set with Metal Covers:
These are the best active pickups, hands down. I have been playing guitar for 23 years and actively "tweaking" my own guitars for over 10 years. I have tried every brand of high-output pickup on the market and the sounds these produce is second to none. SD put a lot of thought and R&D into these before releasing them and it really shows. If you play metal and are unsatisfied with the "other" active brand, then make the switch...you won't be sorry! The big bonus with these is that if your guitar is already wired for actives, you simply unplug the existing pickup at the connector and plug these in (drop-in replacement), I was not so lucky with my Gibson explorer, but the 3 hour install was well worth it.

Next Gen Blackouts are a Knockout
Comments about Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts Humbucker Set with Metal Covers:
I build, upgrade, and rebuild MANY guitars. Often, I'm looking for a pickup that can actually play metal AND smooth progressive rock AND even jazzy sounds. Few pickups are capable of the pinch harmonics and down-and-dirty sounds I need for some kinds of music. On top of that, even fewer pickups are capable of making warm broad sound with a full range of internal eq. Seymour-Duncan AHB-1 pickups can do all that and more. They were easy to install (soldering required), came with everything but a battery and a battery clip, and just blow the listener out of the water. Cons? No battery clip... I would prefer full-size pots, but the included pots are VERY high quality.
