As a small progressive church in the middle of appalachia, we use our stage for everything (music, drama, quizzing, etc..). We are rough on equipment not only here but we regularly take equipment places for the same reasons stated above. These mic stands are an excellent buy. Very sturdy (price factored in here), and good looking. Can not see how anyone would go wrong with these except for lead singers who really lean on the stand and use for a prop. They would need a regular straight stand any way.

These are good solid stands for the money. The boom arms are a little short- not good for vocals at the piano, for instance. But they're great for what I'm using 'em for- recording behind the sound board of an upright piano. Spread of the legs is good for balance- they're nice and stable. I suppose a longer boom arm without the extra weight at the base would make them unstable, hence the heavier bases and longer booms being more expensive.

If you are in need of mic stands, this is probably the best deal you will find. I have at least half-a-dozen of this model mic stand, and they all have been holding up rather well. Sometimes, with the boom all the way extended, supporting a heavy LDC mic, you have to really crank down on the tightener, but it eventually will hold.
