Simply the finest strings for your acoustic guitar. The Silk & Steel strings are so smooth that they beg to be played all day.

    Not Great

    By Sean

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Acoustic Folk Guitar Silk and Steel Round Wound Strings:

I just recieved these strings to put on an old Cort 12 string that I play every once and a while. I have to say that the these have to be the worst sounding strings I have ever heard. The 3 year old strings that were one the guitar sounded better. These strings sound very tinny and dull.

    YOU CANNOT HAVE MY MARTIN'S...

    By Kim

    from Washington State

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Acoustic Folk Guitar Silk and Steel Round Wound Strings:

I like these strings and have played them since purchasing my 1971 D35 - 12 String in 1971. It is the only string that gives me the fullness without having too much bass or treble. I tried many different sets on my '68 Fender Villager and always came back to the 'well balanced' M200s. Four months ago I purchased a new Breedlove 12 string. Started with what came on it, then tried a set of M200s. Massive difference, but wanting to find the 'perfect sound', I proceeded to try every set I could find. I think it was somewhere around 10/12 sets, maybe more. I had the neck adjusted for the first set's gauge that I was going to try. Then I purchased and tried sets with approximately the same gauge. Each time I changed gauge/tension drastically, I had the neck re-adjusted. After all of this I ended up with the M200 Martins. I play the Breedlove 1 to 4 hours every night. Yes 'every' night, unless I am down sick. The Martin 'tone' lasts me for about a month. The best I could get from the rest was three weeks, with some as little as a week. It just amazed me how quickly the brightness went away on some of the other ' quality' sets. I finger pick more than strum (80/20). The high 'E & B' when finger picking, after about two weeks lose their over-all tone and brightness. In my opinion & for my style of play... YOU CANNOT PURCHASE A BETTER SET OF STRINGS THAN THE MARTIN M200's. They were designed for the acoustic folk market and live up to all the claims and advertising. I will never give up my Martin M200's.

Do Not Waste Your Money on these strings

    By J. Ziety

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Acoustic Folk Guitar Silk and Steel Round Wound Strings:

I bought these to try based on a recommendation. 3rd string broke immediately while tuning it during installation. String was a full note below tune when it broke right in the middle when it was still one full note below tune. Martin never responded to my email. Used strings with a replacement string from another set. These have no sustain, and don't feel any better than my old D'Addarios. Don't waste your money on these.
