LR Baggs

Great acoustic guitar tone from your Strat.

The LR Baggs X-Bridge is a great sounding bridge even without the pickups, and its special piezo crystal employs 2 deflection modes to give you shimmering highs and rich lows. Its output level is comparable to that of a stock Strat and it will plug directly into most guitar amps with fine results. Its tremolo is provided with a Delrin arm bushing for silky smooth operation. Drops onto the posts of any American Standard Strat (with 2-1/16" spacing E to E). Comes with a one-year warranty.

Sensational sound, pure ear candy, the perfect addition to a Fender Stratocaster.

Comments about LR Baggs X-Bridge for Fender American Standard Strat:

I love it.It sounds incredible....very impressive!I took a standard Strat Delta tone pickguard and factored the all magnetic pickups into the no-load tone pot, same as the previous writer, who inspired me to buy this product.I also added a toggle switch to select either magnetic pickups or the x-bridge piezo pickup.Be sure to make x-bridge down and magnetic up with the toggle the standard 5 position switch action..more natural and less confusing this way.I fitted the 5meg volume pot that comes with the x-bridge into the centre pot position.Make sure you keep your original Fender tremolo pivot posts for the two pivot standard bridge. This will allow you to drop your bridge right down against the body if you feel so inclined. The supplied posts are fairly high.In my case I built my whole Strat off parts sourced from ebay and ended up buying a whole bridge just to get the pivot posts.Dumb huh...but it was good to get the extra tremolo springs and factory I was happy!Don't forget to solder in a Sprague Orange Drop .022uf Capacitor across your tone pot while your at it...hey you've gone this far!The x-bridge matches well with the standard Strat pickup output in a passive setup too.If you don't find this review useful you are just being yourself a favour and fit one of these to your Fender would have to be the ultimate upgrade IMHO.

Keyboard player converted!

Comments about LR Baggs X-Bridge for Fender American Standard Strat:

I've wanted an acoustic sound on stage since I started playing rhythm guitar - my band plays covers and acoustic guitar would add to the authenticity of some of the numbers we play. I decided to try this pickup, and I'm certainly not disappointed. As with any pickup, what you get ultimately depends on your EQ settings I've found the most striking acoustic effect is achieved with effects units which include an acoustic amp model. Add a graphic set to the classic U shape to get a really crisp sound with a rich bottom end. After playing for a while I find it almost comes as a surprise when I look down and see I'm playing a Strat! The actual kit is certainly comprehensive; you get everything you need to fit it to any guitar - the tremolo arm, springs, claw, mounting posts, a balance pot and a stereo socket. I actually bought the wrong model - I got the Standard which is the two-post fitting, while the Vintage is the six-screw one. This didn't matter too much as my Squier had the metric six-screw spacing and needed some woodwork anyway. (I decided to let a professional do this) The other advantage, having got the Standard, is that the new tremolo arm doesn't have the annoyingly loose threaded fitting the old one had it just slots in with a grub screw to provide a bit of resistance to rotation. I might even be tempted to use the tremolo nowThe instructions give you a couple of connection configurations, but I didn't fancy either of them - they both involved replacing the jack socket with the stereo one they supply, and then having to use a stereo Y cable to connect to 2 different amps. (or channels) All this just so you could mix the piezo and magnetic pickup sounds! I can't really see why anyone would want to mix them so I just had a changeover switch fitted, using the pot they supplied for piezo volume, and kept the mono jack. The piezo volume replaces the centre tone control and the tone functions are summed onto the other one.In conclusion, I'm delighted with the X-Bridge as a keyboard player first and foremost, I just want to play the guitar on every number now!
