Leave your amp plugged in while you tune up.

The GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner is equipped with an output jack so you can leave your amp plugged in. An ultra-large LCD screen provides excellent visibility. Adjustable calibration range (410-480Hz). Tunes 6 & 7 string guitars and 4-, 5-, and 6-string basses. Pure major/minor 3rd pitch indication marks. Includes reference tone, microphone, speaker, folding stand, auto power off, memory backup, and batteries. This chromatic auto-tuner works with all types of instruments.

Dedicated guitar and bass tuner with large LCD for easy viewing
The GA-40 is a dedicated, easy-to-operate guitar/bass tuner with automatic pitch detection. In Guitar mode it supports seven-string guitars (7B through 1E), and in Bass mode it supports six-string basses (Low-B and Hi-C). With the precision you expect from KORG, the GA-40 indicates the pitch quickly and accurately. The LCD needle-style display provides both the accuracy of an LCD as well as the easy viewing of a needle indicator, and the display has been enlarged for even better visibility. You can also use the built-in high-sensitivity microphone to tune an acoustic guitar.

Sound Out function produces a reference tone from the internal speaker
In addition to letting you tune visually using the meter, the GA-40 provides a Sound Out function that plays a reference tone through the internal speaker, letting you tune by ear. Each time you press the Sound switch, the tone will cycle through 7B_6E_5A_4D_3G_2B_1E in Guitar mode, or through LB_4E_3A_2D_1G_HC in Bass mode.

Quinta Flat Tuning mode
To support the dropped tunings used in heavy metal styles to produce a powerfully massive sound, the GA-40 provides a Quinta Flat Tuning mode that lets you detect dropped tunings of one through five semitones. This lets you tune super-long scale guitars that extend below the pitch range of conventional guitars.

Conveniently thin and compact
The GA-40 gives you convenient guitar and bass tuning functionality in a pocket-sized package, making it easy to tune whether you're on stage or in the studio. An output jack (bypass) has been added, making it easy to check the tuning even while you're performing.

The stand on the back lets you place the tuner on any surface.

Auto Power Off function
The Auto Power Off function automatically turns the power off after the unit has been left on for twenty minutes, preventing the batteries from running down needlessly.

Approximately 85 hours of continuous use
The GA-40 is designed for long battery life, and allows approximately 85 hours of continuous use (continuous A4 input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).

*Even if a sound is within the detectable pitch range, detection may be unsuccessful for instrumental sounds that contain a large number of overtones or that decay rapidly.

Korg tuners and metronomes purchased from a Korg USA authorized dealer now have a three year warranty.

Pretty good tuner for the price

By John Mulligan

from Undisclosed

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I have owned this tuner for a couple of years. I bought it because my previous Korg tuner, the venerable Korg DT-1 that I bought back around 1990 finally started behaving unreliably after nearly 20 years of hard use. So, when I was looking for a replacement this is the tuner I found. Same brand, similar price range. I can't say I like the GA-40 as well, but it may be that I am simply sentimental about the DT-1. After using the GA-40 for a while I got used to thinking of it as not as good; it is very difficult to nail a note perfectly on this tuner, there's a lot of waver around 0. That may be because it is overly sensitive. I do use it regularly and often and it is easy to use in a variety of settings. it does not have the solid feel of the DT-1, but it is smaller and lighter. It is a very responsive tuner and I realize that I have begun to take it for granted. Your tuner is the last thing you want to have to think about when you are ready to play music, and the GA-40 performs easily and well, allowing me to get on with my playing without giving the tuner a second thought. Would I buy it again? If my financial situation changed I might replace it with a higher-end tuner but if I had to replace this one tomorrow I would buy this tuner again.

Easy to use

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I recently bought my Korg GA 40 after having it suggested by my son, a band teacher and, most recently, my guitar instructor. It was very inexpensive and very easy to use. I first used it with my electric guitar as a in line tuner and was able to tune up using my old Fender tube amp. After my first guitar lesson I decided I should get an acoustic to learn on and have used the GA 40 everyday for the past week. It is intuitive to use and the display is easy to read. Great buy for twice the money.

A GREAT VALUE

By Don Jennings

from Lewisville, TX

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I have tuners by Boss, Sabine, and Korg. Can you ever have too many tuners? Well dollar for dollar this little inexpensive Korg is, in my opinion, the best value on the market. I now have three of them. They are accurate, durable, and easy to use. They're small enough that you can include one in every guitar case. Whether as a backup or your main tuner, they get the job done.

Can't be beat for the price.

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

It does its job admirably and accurately. I've only used it in acoustic mode, less to plug in, and I'm more than satisfied. It shouldn't be compared to a tuner that costs ten times as much. Should you?

Good tuner

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

The only thing that bothers me about this tuner, is that it has a hard time reading the high E string, I don't know why, it just goes back and forth on it. I like how you can make it go flat, it's really handy when I need a different key. It's a good tuner for the money.

By Dennis Jackson

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

Great tuner for the price. Easy to use and compact. Even though my guitars hold tune very well, I like to use the Korg to double check them each time before playing.

fair

By Drew Hinkle

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Korg GA-40 Electronic Guitar and Bass Tuner:

Does a decent job of tuning, but doesn't seem all that accurate. It's a joke compared to the Strobostomp2, but I got one of these just to be able to keep it in my guitar case. For the money and size, it works.
