Nice speaker
Pros
- Improves Sound
Cons
Best Uses
Comments about Jensen P8R 25W 8" Replacement Speaker:
Nice speaker with good chime and smooth break up. A bit pricey tough. Best suitable for low to mid volume levels, you can really feel the response improvement over the ceramic types, however the ceramic will be more stable and linear responsive at high volumes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Big Warm Tone
Comments about Jensen P8R 25W 8" Replacement Speaker:
I have to admit, I never bought an upgrade speaker before, but Boy! What a Difference. I've been playing a little Fender Frontman, which most people consider to be "just" a practice amp, but it's been decent for coffeehouses and church gigs (and it didn't cost a fortune). It's lightweight and portable, but I always wanted it to sound a little bigger, fuller, and warmer. That's when a friend suggested this speaker. A very easy replacement. Four screws and the just wires slip on. I left the back off the Frontman to give the speaker a little extra room to breath, and this is a whole new ball game. The sound is incredible. If I'd known it was this easy I would have bought this years ago!

P8R Speaker
Comments about Jensen P8R 25W 8" Replacement Speaker:
After swapping tubes for about a month in my recently aquired 1963 Harmony 410 tube amp, I was still not quite satisfied with the tone. I swapped out the speaker, installing a Jensen PR8. The tone inproved dramatically across the full range of my guitar. I especially noticed improved clarity and power in the higher notes. I read that alnico magnets, as in the PR8, are better suited to lower volumes, ceramic magnets better for high volume. This suits my playing which is coffee shop volume, mostly fingerstyle acoustic blues and folk. The speaker also seems to make my voice sound better. The price of the PR8 is about twice that of the Jensen CR8 (ceramic magnet). For me tone is a high priority so I bought what I thought was the best speaker I could afford. I play a Gibson acoustic with an active Fishman single coil sound hole pickup with this amp. So far I am quite pleased although I think the speaker will sound even better as I put more playing time on it.

Decent Speaker
Comments about Jensen P8R 25W 8" Replacement Speaker:
This speaker's okay - it didn't floor me with its tone, but it's okay. I'm playing it in a home-made Champ which is a pretty standard application for this speaker.-Clean, it's pleasant and rounded, not shrill at all even when I first played it.-At mid-volume there is some buzzing, but I can't say for sure whether the speaker is a factor or not. It's sort of mushy at this volume irrespective of the buzzing and quite frankly bad. Normally, this is where I'd get more grit for my blues, so I have to either play cleaner or push it to a true overdriven tone.-When the amp's cranked up the tone is amazing, with a thick fluid distortion - I guess the amp's distortion complements the mushy speaker distortion well.
