Comments about Gibraltar Medium Cymbal Boom Attachment Clamp:
I'm withholding the 10 simply because it's too new to me and I haven't gigged it yet. There's no reason to suspect that it won't shine. Gibraltar has it pretty well together.
I play four piece kits pretty much exclusively. I'm trying to find that elusive balance between weight, stability and set up time. I usually set up with my rack tom attached to one straight cymbal stand via a ball and L-Rod holder and my ride cymbal using one of these fine clamps to another straight stand (the stand itself holds another crash/ride). Two straight stands to hold two crashes with clamps holding the ride and rack tom.
This clamp is just long enough for a 20" ride cymbal, maybe a 21" ride would work, but I seriously doubt a 22" or greater would. The number of pivot points on the clamp are a bit overkill, but the one closest to the clamp is great for folding it down and putting it in the gig bag.
It's stable light and small. Just big enough for a lot of us. What's not to like?
