This is the third case of this type and size that I have purchased. Strangely the covers for this one are not interchangeable with the others because they mounted the latch mechanism to the cover rather than the case, otherwise they are identical. The mounting flange for the equipment is also the principle structural element of the case so there really is no isolation between your equipment and the case, i.e. shock to the case is transmitted directly to the equipment inside. But the case keeps your equipment enclosed and I would recommend it for situations where you handle the equipment yourself but maybe not if you are having others transport the equipment.

Let's face it...all of the rack cases are overpriced anyway...that being said, this is a quality case for the money! It is very sturdy, All the holes line up for your gear to be screwed in evenly...this should not even be an issue, but I have ran into this problem with other rack cases! The latches are sturdy, and the covers seal up nicely. I would go with this over the skb roto rack if you are in the market for a shallow rack case!

For anyone who is looking for an alternative to SKB, these Gator racks are great. I use the three space shallow racks, to house effects, and wireless unit for stage use. They are not quite as heavy-duty as SKB, but over-all, perform well, and protect your gear, while saving you some $, over the other guys.
