This pickup delivers exactly the kind of sweetness you need for vintage blues and rock. Even twang-bangers can get a smile from them. My older, vintage guitars are strictly used for studio work. Therefore I needed a suitable alternative for playing out at the clubs. The Fender Mexicasters were the weapons of choice. They pretty much have the look and feel of a California Strat but with shortcomings, mainly the pickups. They also lack proper shielding on the pickguard. You might also want to replace that too because without proper shielding you'll still be a little noisy. That being said, these pickups are bright enough and strong enough to fit the bill as a very good choice for most guitarists. Ifyou're looking for over-the-top there are better choices but if you need to get in the game and stay there these work fine.

I only have one of these pickups in the middle position of my MIM HSS Strat, and it is quickly becoming my favorite. None of the pickups in my Strat are stock; I have Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the neck, the Vintage Noiseless in the middle, and a Dimarzio humbucker in the bridge...all quality pickups, but I just can't seem to stay away from that third position. It is amazingly warm and clear, and produces a beautiful clean tone. It will really cut through a band with the tone to 10...roll it back to 7 and hear it warm up beautifully. As the name indicates, there is absolutley no noise or hum out of this pickup. What else can I say? I love it...and I only have it in that obscure middle position. I can only imagine the sweetness of a SSS Strat running a full set of these. If you're looking to take your MIM or even American strat to a whole new level, buy this set of pickups today!
