Great Snarl for the Strat

By Bronc

from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Tex Mex Pickups set of 3:

I was looking to upgrade the pickups in my MIM strat and was looking at the noiseless or "hot" pickups, but they were just out of reach ($). So instead I got these after reading the reviews. These pups ROCK! I routinely plug the guitar straight into a direct box or a recording interface and need zero effects to make them sound great. I've used them for home recording and the neck pickup gives you that awesome Strat vintage vibe and the bridge has a great snarl/growl. I used this setup playing rhythm guitar at a benefit concert and it sounded awesome in the house. One NOTE: you'll need to find strings that have the third string "wound" otherwise your third string will always be hot based on the pole height on the pickups. I use the D'Addario EXL110W and they sound great. If you buy these you will NOT be disappointed.

Fender TEX-MEX

By Edward-9vzg1

Comments about Fender Tex Mex Pickups set of 3:

Unless you're a famous musician and everyone gives you their premium sets of custom wound pickups these pickups sound great especially for the price. Here's how to make these pickups sound like pickups that cost a lot more. Put a good set of pots in your guitar. I chose 250K CTS Tone pots and a 300K CTS Volume pot. Then I put a couple of well broken in Vintage 30's in my cab and play through a Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp. All of the newness or the brightness eplanations I've read don't apply. You should be very happy with these pickups and still have some cash left in your wallet.

The TEX MEX is no Hex...

By Frank-wL5-o

Comments about Fender Tex Mex Pickups set of 3:

The tex mex pick-ups are getting better as they age..What I mean is that as pick-ups age the magnets weaken and they begin to sound better..So if you buy a set of tex mex pickups, give them time ..Each time I play my Strat the vintage sound is getting better all the time..so buy a set and give them time, you'll won't regret it...
