Fender Strap Locks

By JAN MANKOWSKI

from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

I purchased some of these a few weeks ago that I installed to my Ibanez Bass played a gig on Holloween and had them fail several times during the night, I should have stuck with the Dunlops I buy all the time or the Ernie Balls, much safer and perfected systems.
I bought mainly on price and because of the Fender name.....big mistake... They have no swivel play at all, they work themselves up to where the horseshoe part of the lock is facing the ground and the least little shock releases your guitar to the hard floor below. The quarter inch nuts that hold the entire lock undo and fail from that end. My bass crashed to the floor and luckily no damage but a broken cord which must have absorbed the shock, three other times instant release from one end or the other. Be forewarned that if you have any kind of a guitar that means anything to you or you just want to do the Pete Townsend deal and could care less about what hits the deck....stay the hck away from these.

Very covenient

By huvaro

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

the only thing is that the screws did not match with my guitar's own screws so i ground the head of my guitar's screws and it worked out . maybe they should include at least one extra of bigger screws. otherwise they are excellent

Screws didn't fit my Strat

By Dennis-lbLR-

from Holyoke, MA

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

Once the strap locks are on, they work exactly as I'd hoped. I need to be able to put my guitar in it's case and removing the strap is the only way it'll fit. The trouble is that the buttons don't stay tight. I'd read someone comment that the screws were a perfect fit. This was not the case going onto my unmodified 2008 Am Std Strat. The screws the locks came with appear to be #5's, while the stock screws are #6's. One of the stock screws was usable, but for some reason the other one did not want to sit all the way at the bottom of the button (head slightly too large). I bought #6 - 1" replacement screws that fit the buttons, but the button at the neck still manages to work itself loose after a few days. I'm thinking it has to do with the swiveling that occurs as part of this locks design. (But again the bottom button doesn't come loose--it's odd). Applying a little 3-in-1 oil cut down strap lock / button noise, but it didn't solve the problem. I'm wary of permanently gluing in the buttons, so at this point I'm still trying to come up with a solution. Maybe I'll try #7 screws or, at least, something slightly longer. I'd hoped Fender strap locks going on a Fender would have been problem free, so this aspect is disappointing.

Quality product

By Matt-2G6yy

from Portland, OR

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

This is a good set of strap locks made for Fender by Schaller. I would have given them 5 stars but they come with no instructions at all. It's not terribly difficult to figure out but I did have to do a little googling. Good product nonetheless.

can't live without 'em

By chuck uchida

from chicago

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

These are Schaller straplocks in a Fender bag. The folks at Fender started including Schaller straplock buttons as original equipment on their American guitars back in the 90's. Now you can buy the same high quality from your Fender dealer. The Schaller design is superior to others in that you must pull a bolt to release the mechanism, unlike the push button mechanism on other straplock that can lead to accidental droppage if you own an SG or other guitar with a back of the neck strapbutton. I have seen it happen. The horshoe shaped strap cradle also prevents accidental release. It may seem ok to use a guitar without straplocks, but if you consider the investment you have in the guitar, it's only sensible to spend the money to protect your beloved instrument. Neck repairs are not cheap, and guitars are rarely as good after, not to mention tha inconvenience of being without it while it's being repaired. If you look around you, you'll notice what straplocks the pros are using, and which brand. Fender(Schaller) is it.

Great Lock

By Scott-ubKXD

from Arroyo Grande CA

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

This is a great strap lock. It would take a hurricane to knock your strap off. But when you want to take it off, it is very easy. To sum it up, simple but effective.
