Combat the gunk factor!

Gauges 12-16-24-35-45-56.

Elixir Acoustic Guitar Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone! No more gunk and goo. No more DNA evidence. No kidding.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in guitar strings in over forty years, and deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

I play guitar constantly in my spare time (between 5 - 15/wk). My preferred style is 12-Bar Blues; with a little funk therefore I put a lot of wear and tear on strings, which will usually last 1 to 2 months (I play a Fender Acoustic). I just bought these strings purely out of curiosity as I usually go for the Martin Lights BUT I do find them a little too slick for my uses as I like the added benefit of having the ridge to grip on to for bends and pulls. However they do sound really clear and crisp. I have been told that if you like the feel of a normal string without all the finger noise you should opt for the Elixir Nanos (I will try these the next time) as they tend to have a bit more of a grip to them. Keep playing!

I'm not a fan of the Elixirs, as they tend to be very hit-or-miss. One package will be fine, and then the next will fray and snap in no time. It really makes no sense that a set of strings as costly as these would have problems like this, and it's clear that Elixir has serious quality control issues. There are many varieties of strings that are cheaper, more reliable, and frankly, have better tone. The Elixirs are way too bright, a little bit jangly. All in all, not what I look for in a set of strings. They are fine enough strings, just not worth the money in my opinion.

Elixir Light Medium strings

By Chuck Roehm

from Vashion Island, WA

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are terrific strings, they get a lot of use from me and last longer than any others I have tried. I like the light to medium set up to get stronger bass and nice bright highs. By being able to buy them in one set I don't have to buy separate strings or two different sets and mix and match.

They're alright

By chris patterson

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I know for sure on acoustic if you are a mellow player, these strings are great to have. Elixir strings hide the sound of slide notes. They don't twang, and I've bought a couple packs since the past few months, the sound stays decent, and no strings have broke. So for all those acoustic players this is great to have.

The are great strings.. But not reliable

By Randy

from Okalhoma

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I mean I think everyone knows they sound good... But they tend to break before even buying them... And if they cost what they do they should be more dependable...

skeptical

By John Hopkins

from White Lake, MI

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

When I first changed to these strings, I was like, man what a difference this makes. They sounded and felt better. I liked them very much, But since then, I have been breaking the g strings way to easy, the last string that broke, happened while my guitar was just sitting in the guitar stand. It popped for no reason at all, nobody was even near it. Very disappointed that a set of strings that cost as much as these do, would have a problem like that. I was using the lights, I have not tried the mediums yet, and I doubt I will.

Excellent set of strings...

By Dave E. Doo

from Massachusetts

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I use the Elixir NANOWEB strings on my Yamaha acoustic and have never had a problem. Elixir has a poly web and a nanoweb type. The nano's are a bit more flexible when tuning and stretching as you first put them on. Also, the angle at the saddle is key to any set up. Like I said before, I have a Yamaha, specifically, the DW5S model and had to have it professionally setup when I got it; one of the things that got done was the saddle and when it was all done the guitar played awesome and the action was spectacular. These strings have never broke or snapped and held their tone and tuning for a very long time. sorry to hear if you have had problems with these but check the saddle angle and try the NANOWEB's. I rate the strings a 4 because they are pricey up front but in the long run, with a good set-up, they will be cheaper.

Just buy these, you couldn't do any better

By Possum

from Summerville, SC

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Ok, bottom line, these are THE best strings your axe will ever have on them, they feel great, they sound like angels on a harp, last a long time, and will be your signature strings from the time you strum the first chord with them.

great sound!

By jay

from Bay Area, CA

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've used these string before and I have experienced the strings breaking on me as I have read in other people's reviews. Something that I've tried is simply using softer pics. Since then, I have never broke a string since, and if it needs to be louder, you can just tell the sound guy to turn you up! 'Cause these strings sound rich and full, I haven't used anything else in a long while.

Great sound and feel, bad breaks

By Beware Buyer, Me Too

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I love the feel and sound quality of these strings, unfortunately I have experienced some breaks (mostly D & G) on my 714 ce Taylor. It seems I'm not alone.

I recommend Elixir strings 100%

By John Dilao of Tropical Breeze Music

from San Francisco Bay Area, California USA

Comments about Elixir Light Top/Medium Bottom Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been using Elixir strings on my acoustic electric guitars since 2000. When they first came out they were quite expensive but now they are priced affordably. I like the fact that these strings slide easier under my fingers because of their coating. Also, because I tend to perspire quite a lot when I perform, other strings start to break down and lose their tone in less than a month. Elixirs keep their tone and last much longer than any other strings I've ever used. I highly recommend Elixir strings with a musical passion.
