Comments about DR Strings Sunbeams NMR5-45 Medium 5-String Bass Strings .125 Low B:
I put these strings on my Yamaha 5-string. The pickups are very, very bright. Other strings I tried were too bright, suitable only for music requiring that much front end. On this particular Yamaha, these strings are both warm and extremely clear....no mud or excessive boom. They cut through the other instruments and don't get lost in the mix. I have not used flats since the '60s when I played them on my 62 P-bass (standard issue). I'm glad to have found these for this particular 5-string. I can still get plenty of clear mids and highs with my Eden rig. I'd recommend these strings for anyone wanting slightly tame their tone without descending into the world of mush.
