Bright and easy to play.

Gauges 40-60-80-100.

Hi-Beam Stainless Steel Bass Strings are roundwound and constructed upon a round core, which is unique in the industry. Hi-Beams require much more time, care, and extra steps to make than other bass strings. The extra effort DR expends making Hi-Beams results in a bass string that is highly flexible; musically bright without harshness; and strings that are renowned for unusually long life, consistency, and string-to-string balance. They don't eat your frets. Choose them for brightness and ease of playing. They fit virtually all scale lengths up to 37-3/4".

Strings of Tone.

By Soulman

from Phila. PA. USA

Comments about DR Strings Hi-Beams Lite 4-String Bass Strings:

Very toneful, very musical. They are very bright and edgy, but not harsh. Lows are full and growly. Mids are sweet, smooth, cutting and balanced. Very easy strings to play. They will not tire your hands. They last long too. They don't eat your frets as advertised. The only stainless string on the market that are not cheese graters. Fret Friendly.

GREAT!!!

Comments about DR Strings Hi-Beams Lite 4-String Bass Strings:

I put these strings on yesterday morning, and haven't put the bass down yet! I've tried the lo-riders and really liked them but they didn't change my tone as much as these have. The second I put these on I had instant Les Claypool tone. "My Name is Mud" sounds perfect played on these strings (I use lite-lite gauge) They're extremely bright sounding that I have to adjust my EQ a lil but these are by far the best strings I've ever played. Great for slapbass and finger style.

DR High Beam 5 set-really great strings-five star rating out of five stars

By Bill Law

from Fargo ND

Comments about DR Strings Hi-Beams Lite 4-String Bass Strings:

I worked in the music retail world, and tried all the major brands over time. I had a long standing preference to nickel strings- a bit warmer sounding and less "sticky" feeling (I am a hardcore roundwound user-learned to play in the flatwound era and won't go back)When I tried the DR's for the first time,I was bowled over by the quality of the tone-big bottom end and a bright, defined top end-the strings generate a lot of growl, but are not mid range heavy at all. A really solid, and defined tone throughout the sonic spectrum(they also record really well) help the bass track sit in the mix and carve out its space without having to tweak it much (same thing live)Finally, I don't change strings all that often. My hands are dry and the strings generally last a long time. The DRs really last for me and retain their general sonic characteristic. I do love putting a new set on however-just like waking the bass up and pulling the blanket off-I use the DR highbeam med gauge 5 string set on a Jazz Bazz Plus Deluxe w/EMG electronics.

will cut through but tone?

By dmp

from Michigan

Comments about DR Strings Hi-Beams Lite 4-String Bass Strings:

Stainless is great for cutting through the mix of loud rock or pop, but tone is not one of its attributes. The strength of the main note is there but the harmonics are not, even on a good bass rig. For tone you need a softer, more pliable string that develops the related tones around the fundamental. And these don't have great touch or feel either due to the hardness of stainless. I think I am in the minority on this opinion though, as I keep seeing stainless highly recommended for all applications.
