Super-hot spice that won't get lost in the sauce.
The DiMarzio PAF Pro® was created when chops-intensive playing was reaching high popularity, and high-gain amps and rack systems were the norm. A pickup was needed that combined a lot of presence and "cut" with an open-sounding PAF® vibe. The transparency of its sound lets the PAF Pro® slice through heavy processing, where darker-sounding pickups get lost in the mud of the effects chain. Low notes have both snap and chunk, and there is a spike in the midrange that gives the pickup a subtle "aw" vowel sound, like a wah-wah pedal stopped in the middle. Treble response is tweaked, so high notes stand out without getting brittle. The PAF Pro® makes an outstanding neck pickup in almost any guitar, and it's an exceptional bridge pickup when high output isn't required.
The PAF Pro® is a dependable choice right across the board -- neck and bridge positions, solidbody, semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars are equally effective uses.
This is a great building block pickup, because it's effective in many different situations. Try it in the neck position with a hotter bridge pickup - anything from a Norton® to a Super Distortion® will create a calibrated two-humbucker match. As a bridge pickup, it's really effective with single-coils, because it won't drown them out with too much power, and it's bright enough to blend in tone-wise.

PAF - Perfect in All Fashions
Comments about DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup:
I used to have this pickup in the neck position of my Jackson V and it is the best pickup that I have ever used, hands down. It was the first pickup that I used where the clean and lead tone was exactly the tone that I heard in my head. I have it going through a DiMarzio 1m pot for more headroom and clarity, but you don't have to. Hats off to DiMarzio for not only making great pickups, but also the best sounding, most functional pots I have ever used, (and I've used a few different brands). The pickup that was in it before was a Duncan '59, and while that is a good pickup, the PAF is so much smoother and more present. There is no way to make this pickup sound fizzy or harsh, it's got great top end response, but it's so rounded and soft that it never gets grainy. It's not muddy either, but you might want to watch where you set the amp's gain, it's not really meant for high gain. If you need more gain, step on an overdrive pedal. I have since changed my pickups in this guitar to the D-Activator set, and I disagree about what the other review said about the D-Activator neck pickup being better or more present. The PAF is a much better pickup, and it took me changing it out to truly realize it. I plan on swapping it back in the future, possibly even buying a few more for my other guitars.

Sweet pickup
Comments about DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup:
I put this pickup in the neck position. In that position it has a nice warm sound. It sounds really nice and has lots of sustain. It is not quite as clear as a high output pickup, such as the d activator, but it is worth having. For being in the neck it still gets pretty good harmonics. I would deffinantly buy it again. It sounds really nice with a fred in the bridge. The fred is really bright in the bridge position, so with the tone at about 2.5 to 3 they sound really nice together. I would say this pickup is better than an evolution, but not quite as good a d activator. I would recommend this pickup to anybody.

Awesome pup/ preferably in neck
Comments about DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup:
I bought an rg3120 off of here about a year ago... maybe 2. The neck pup is the PAF pro. This pickup is awesome for leads in the neck position. VERY mid range thick, nice smooth high, and enough bass for thickness, but not so much as to make it "thumpy", there's still snap to it. In the neck position, anything you play on the g string is going to be absolutely beautiful. The presence of this pup's tone is awe inspiring. Not in the sense of the amp setting presence, but the way it just sounds so right in front of you, yet swirling at the same time. Absolutely at 5 star pup in the neck position. I'm buying an x2n for the bridge soon. The tone zone's just too brassy, I need clarity, and I'm sure it'll make a great combo with this pup, even thou most everything I play is on the bridge pup, this pup in the neck makes for a nice change of pace.

Excellent Pickup
Comments about DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup:
DiMarzio did it again. With the several different versions of the PAF that they have put out, this is by far the most impressive of them all. The pickup itself mixes well with others (stock or brand name) and stands well on its own. I personally have one in the bridge position of my main guitar and was blown away by the sound. With the music that I play, it is it is important that when I kick into overdrive that you hear the crunch, but don't drown out the notes. With the PAF Pro I am able to dial in a nice dirty sound, but still retain that Gretsch hollowbody type clarity so that you actually hear the chord and not a wall of distortion. I was so impressed that I actually ordered two more for the neck and bridge positions on my backup guitar.

Really good replacement for your old pick-ups!
Comments about DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup:
I wanted to change the sound of my old Kramer, so I decided to try a PAF for the bridge position. The results were amazing, and I recommend for those guy who want a warm, clear sound like old Gibson's Les Paul
