EXP165 Coated Bass Strings provide longer life and increased durability coupled with the brightness, clarity, and sensitivity you've come to expect from D'Addario strings. Here is how they work: An ultrafine layer of EXP coating is bonded to the phosphor bronze wrap wire and is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against corrosion and wear, which can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound.
And because the EXP coating is cross-linked to the wrap wire prior to winding, the strings sound fresh and bright. New-string tone lasts 3 to 4 times longer than with traditional strings.
D'Addario is the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments. Many top guitarists won't play any other brand. Regardless of your playing style, D'Addario has a set that's right for you.

Comments about D'Addario EXP165 Coated Soft Top/Regular Bottom Bass Strings:
I took a chance on these bass strings because of the good luck I had with EXP 17's on my accoustic guitar. I have traditionally used Dean Markley strings on my basses but doubt I will go back to them after hearing what these strings can do for a guitar. I put them on my Rickenbacker 4001 and experienced a sound I have never heard from that instrument in the 30 years I have been playing it. The warm, fat bass tones give a full thick sound while maintaining the upper register tones. The highs are solid but not piercing, like I have found in other strings. I highly recommend you try a set of these on any guitar you use.
