Go for the gold.
Following tremendous feedback received for the Gold 12", Celestion realized there was also a need for a guitar speaker that conveyed the Alnico mellowness of the original Blue, with the speed and response of a 10" driver.
The 40W Celestion G10 Alnico Gold guitar speaker is the ultimate 10" speaker, blending unmistakable Alnico class with a rich low-end, creamy midrange and vintage chiming top-end. Springy, warm, revealing, and highly expressive, the 40W Celestion speaker can be used singly or in pairs to add a classy sheen to any amp, or in a 4x10 configuration for higher volume depth, warmth and shimmer, with less of the boom associated with 4x12 cabinets.

Comments about Celestion G10 Alnico Gold 40W Guitar Speaker:
Celestion hits a high note again. Bought one for champ type SE amps that I build and it just makes the amp sound great. I have 1-10 cabs with all different kinds of speakers and cabinets to use and this one is a keeper. It does remind me a bit of the old alnico Fane speakers. The highs are clear, the mids bark and the lows are smooth. That is the British sound. A pair of these or a mix with a g10 Green or g10 vintage makes a great package. If you like the more Fender/Jensen, mid scooped sound then the Eminence line is great for that. If you want that true British sound the Celestion, although pricey is the way to go.
