If you're like me and your ride doubles as a crash, then I highly recommend this cymbal. This cymbal is very dynamic. I've had jazz drummers use my kit in that context and it was gorgeous....I'm a rock drummer who goes from playing delicately to all out bashing and it performs wonderfully under all circumstances. My only guff is that you have to really smack the bell with the shoulder of your stick to get in to cut through loud guitars, but that's it.
I play in a Punk/alternative band and this cymbal has the right amount of ping, right amount of wash, and a great bell sound. I mean I can play near the bell and have a nice ping or play near the edge and have not as much ping and more wash. Bottem line is THIS CYMBAL IS RAD.
This ride is great. I got it a year ago, and I love it! It has an amazing crash sound for the punk drummer and a beautiful, crisp ring. Ok, Travis plays it, but that is not why anyone should purchase it. As everyone says, use your own style, but this one greatly suited my style and I am looking forward to buying some more Zildjian products soon! Oh, and btw, the picture is not a very good image of this cymbal, it is a lot brighter, and really suits any drum kit whether it is dark colored or light/bright colored.
The Sweet ride is, in all other words, sweet. It is the best sounding, most versatile ride I have ever played on. I bought mine from WWBW about a year ago, and it has never failed me. It has a great, attacking, yet mellow crash, and the ride cuts through our 2 Marshall stacks with no problem. I play with only 2 other crashes because of the sweet, it doubles extremely well as a crash. Makes great background noise when crashing, yet it doesn't cover up the beat.
If you play in any type of band, whether it's punk, metal, jazz, or blues, this is the ride to get. If you are in a punk band, this has an awesome crash sound to it when you crash ride it. It is the perfect ride. I would choose the brilliant finish if you want good high pitched controlled sound.
