I truly believe the Yanagisawa 901 Soprano is the finest soprano saxophone made today, period. The keyboard and tuning is superior to the Selmer II & III. In looking for a new soprano, I played the Selmer III, the Yamaha 875 & the Yani 991. Money was not an object. I just cannot begin to express the beauty of the workmanship, attention to detail, the tone, the intonation and the keywork and power of the 901. And for the price, it is an absolute steal. I previously owned a Yamaha 62 Silver Soprano & must say this horn exceeds the Yamaha. Although I play a Selmer III Tenor & a Yamaha 82ZS Alto, I must say that Yani still has the edge in the soprano market. Please give it a try before deciding on a Selmer or Yamaha. They're all fine horns and the matter is rather subjective. But the Yani 901 reigns king of the sopranos.

this sax is one of the best. I really would advise getting this sax because it has only one neck that is always attatched. I used to have a soprano that had 2 necks which i thought was nice, but I didnt realize that it was so much easier to play if you only have the one unattachable neck. Many sopranos have a problem with going into the higher regester when you are trying to play low, but again because this sax has the single neck it doesnt have that problem. It also plays very well in tune and has great tone, and the altisimo notes above high f# are very easy to get out too. there was only one thing that I completely hated about this sax, that was the mouthpiece. It really sucks a lot YOU WILL HAVE TO GET A NEW MOUTHPIECE IF YOU BUY THIS SAX. But thats not to bad. I recomend a selmer C* it works great for every sax

This is a cute little horn! It has very nice action and the keys are placed perfectly for me. While I dislike the Yanagisawa mouthpieces, I think the horn is great! I'd definitely recommend it!

When it comes to intonation soprano sax is a very picky instrument. This Yani is a pleasure to play! High notes are very clear and in tune, palm key notes are bright, front F flageolet is perfect and the low notes are almost not flat at all. Plays easily from low Bb to wherever you can make it. Yani is literally singing with the correct embouchure control especially in mid upper and upper register with very even intonation. Love the fact that it is one straight body, no interchangeable necks!!! If you don't have your own mouthpiece you can easily start on the one it comes with. Yani mouthpieces is a very good quality. If you're looking for great soprano look no further. This is a great professional instrument at a very good price. Would like to give more than five stars, but max is five.
