I have been playing alto (Mark VI) for some time and decided to add the tenor to my repertoire. I gave several tenor saxes a test drive; Selmer Reference 54, Cannonball Excalibur, LA SAX and the Yamaha. Although the Selmer Reference was the best sounding, the Yamaha was a close second place and the Yamaha's price and playability made it the clear winner. I would take a Yamaha over a Cannonball or LA Sax any day. Plus add the right mouth piece and you will get the sound you're looking for.

I got this sax this summer when I started playing and it has been the best. it is extremely easy to blow next to the 90 Keilwerth and and it has a nice sound. it is the one I would get for anyone who is starting or wants something better then a student. also the color is great. love it so much.

After reaching the limits of my Yamaha 23, I got this sax. The intonation is definitely dead-on, and you can't beat the sound. I like a warm sound, and the Cannonball and Selmer I played couldn't touch this. I used a Selmer S80 C* with a Legere reed (which I HIGHLY recommend too). The case that it comes with is just awesome, and the picture on this site doesn't do the horn justice. It's more of a bronze color. Also, the keywork is such an improvement over my old 23, and it feels better than the Cannonballs and Selmers also. The price makes it a great purchase. My only gripe now is why didn't I buy the 62...

This saxophone is one of the best for the player who thinks that he can handle the low voice of the Tenor Sax. As a student, I've gone through eight different tenors but none have the rich, low sound that you tend to look for like this instrument. It's excellent for symphonic band and other concert type songs. This sax is made for the player who thinks of emotion while playing.

I HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE ALTO SAX FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS AND THEN I TRIED AN TENOR. I THOUGHT THAT THE LOW SOUND WAS AWESOME FOR ME SO I DECIDED TO BUY ONE. I WANTED A PRO SAX BUT WHEN I PLAYED THIS I THOUGHT THAT I COULD LOOK NO FURTHER. IT IS A BEAUTY TO PLAY AND ALSO A BEAUTY TO HEAR. IF YOU HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE SAX FOR A WHILE OR YOU ARE JUST A BEGINNER THIS IS THE SAX FOR YOU. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR PLAYERS OF ALL LEVELS.

I compared Selmer Paris super action II (School's property) and this yts475 (My own property) and found out this yts475 is easier to play and flexible in terms of changing warm tone to bright tone or vice-versa. Intonation is pretty well even when reaching high f#. Low notes speak easier too. Furthermore I love the silicon treated leather which makes the instrument easier to maintain. And of course the unique design of the key guard made it look expensive but without the expensive price tag. Overall I would say this a must for students like me and a great option for professionals.

I purchased this instrument last August and I have been incredibly impressed by this instrument, a nice warm tone accompanied by its easy ability to reach all of the notes. When played with an Otto Link 7 w/ Selmer Ligature, MAN! is it powerful! I did encounter one small problem with the instrument, the neck screw completely snapped off in my hand causing a few problems, but other than that its an extremely well made instrument.

This is a perfect sax for anybody who's ready for the next step in playing. It's great for people who love to play but aren't ready to spend five thousand bucks on a professional model. I think it's one of the best sax's that I have had a chance to play and I recommend to at least give it a try.
