This is a great horn for students and 'amateur' (I don't like the word) hornists. It is the best horn at its price and is only a minor step down from the professional horns AND half the price.
I had a chance to spend a week or so playing a 567 in a seminar at the Hartt school, and it's not bad. Personally, I like what my former director did: put new valves in and change the leadpipe and you've got a nice little Geyer wrap that's good on solos and small ensemble, but with ample tone and power for a larger ensemble. As for the actual, unchanged 567, it is a bit too resistant and stuffy, but it doesn't "woof", and it is very consistent in all registers. Change all of the linkage screws to a flat heads, and keep extreme care of the vales, or you will lose them! The overall wrap is nice for those of us who find it hard to hold onto a larger one.
I have owned this horn for almost a year now and I can only say that it is the best (out of 12) that I have ever played. The description lives up true to its words and the price is wonderful for such a great instrument. 5 Stars.
