I received this flute as a Christmas present. It has a great tone quality can get the really high notes, for example, screech E. My sound and tone improved extremely, and it is always in tune.
I am a clarinet player, and I double on flute, and this is a great sounding flute that is relatively inexpensive for either a student in high school, or a doubler who doesn't have the money for a handmade flute.
My flute is amazing. It plays all the notes perfectly. I wouldn't change anything.
I tried this flute out when I was trying out lower professional instruments. All I can say is that if you want a new flute, this would be a good one. The tone was just as good as the Yamaha 581 I tried out (which new would cost about $1,000 more).
My parents purchased this flute for me 19 years ago when I was a freshman in high school. With this flute, I maintained first chair wind ensemble through all 4 years of high school and a chair in the top band in college. Although I have gone through stages of very little playing throughout the years since, I find it incredible that just today did I take my flute in for it's first repair, EVER in almost 20 years. Even with old, dried out pads - this flute has been incredibly easy to play; has a clear, rich tone and excellent response in all registers. I can still hit low C and high C clearly after all these years! This flute is definitely in it for the long haul. I've played other flutists very expensive flutes, and would NEVER trade mine for anything.
