This tuba is nice. I have played one that belongs to my school for 2 years. It's tone quality is nice for a student tuba. My school just got a new Miraphone and I feel comfortable playing next to it.
I have played one of these horns for more than 20 years in concert bands from 25 to 380 players. The horn projects nicely and has very good intonation, both with itself and other tubas, with a clear, resonant voice.
when i started playing tuba in 7th grade i was skeptical about my instrument when my band director gave me an old beat up yamaha full size. But then i realized that it was an amazing souding tuba and that it sounded as good as the brand new yamaha tubas that my high school bought. It was the exact same model of tuba as the new ones. I still play on that old tuba and refuse to play any other tuba my high school. And I'm still section leader becuase of it.
My school has had these tubas for at least ten years, and they still sound great when played correctly. The intonation is excellent, and the dark sound you can get out of these things is awesome. I find they work especially well with a Bach 18c mouthpiece.
