This device is expensive and had to insert the midi IN/OUT into outputs on keyboard vice versa. Its the only option available for hooking up MIDI components to current laptops. I cant wait until MIDI go wireless to eliminate all wiring.

Do not upgrade to Panther cause there isnt a midi driver for it yet. If any one knows where I can get one please let me know. I tried the Yamaha site. Also moving to Panther really is a pain cause mostdrivers you use currently become obsolete. Core audioAll of the spectrasonics plug ins. and other virtual instruments. This changing of system junk is getting tobe rediculous. If it aint broke ...trust me dont fix it.Apple is going through real changes.

Before to buy, I read some other reviews speaking bad. I bought this cable and this line is really very nice to use. I¦m using together Yamaha PSR-303 to send MIDI files and using MIDI interface to receive and send notes to Encore where this cable work fine. I recommend this cable for everyone that need of one cable to use for this purpose.

I've had no problems using this device to connect home Yamaha and Casio digital pianos to Windows XP Pro-based laptop. Out of the box it took about five minutes to install the device and start playing. A nice feature is the activity lights on the adapter box-- there's one for each direction that flashes when traffic is going over the wire.I've read that it doesn't support some functions you'd need in a professional setting, but for everyday playing music and enabling educational software for my kids it's a slam dunk so far. --note on the drivers: they are not signed, so when you install the drivers you will have to dismiss the XP warning about this; however, they work fine and I didn't have to download anything.

The Yamaha UX16 MIDI/USB Converter works fine with Apple Macintosh, but be sure to look on the Yamaha web site for the latest drivers. Also tried it with a PC and after installing the drivers it worked fine. It is a bit more expensive than some other adapters so I only gave it 4 stars.
