You can practice and the person in the next room will not be bothered. Great for apartment living. Somewhat restrictive, but still allows you to practice quietly in an otherwise pretty realistic setting. I like that you can mix in MP3 or CD and the headphones let you hear yourself as if the mute was not being used so you can work on intonation.

The Yamaha PM7 Mute works fantastic. I only have time to practice my trumpet in the night so, this works great to play in the night when everyone is sleeping. The module that is included in the System works well, however, there is one chord, I think one of the aux chords (it comes with 2 of them), that does not connect properly and makes a popping noise. I don't use that chord and only use the other aux chord provided and everything works perfect together.
