Yamaha SB79 Silent Brass System for Trumpet

The Silent System is a well thought out investment I made. Being in the Navy and onboard a ship, it is very hard to find anywhere to practice and not worry about the sound that a trumpet produces. Now with the Silent Brass System I can maintain my music skill with no worry of not being able to practice. Along with the System, the module is great! I practice with my personal Jazz, Blues, and soul music. Even if you don't need the system for use of not disturbing the peace. It is great for training of lip and air support!

This trumpet mute is the best buy and is so quiet. When I am playing with it I cant even tell that it is in there.

We bought the Silent Brass System for Trumpet for our 13-year old son for Christmas. It was on his Christmas list. I was a little leery about it - such a big purchase (over $100) - and was worried that he'd be disappointed. It turns out that I had NOTHING to worry about. No sooner had he opened his present than he went to get his trumpet and try it out, and he hadn't even opened all of his presents yet! The Silent Brass System is exceptional. While he doesn't use it all the time (we like to hear him play too!), he does use it every day and his practice time has increased exponentially. He's taken it to school to show off. He's taken it to his private teacher to show it off. He loves it. It's the best Christmas present we could have gotten! While the system isn't completely 'silent', we can sit in the same room and have a conversation while he's playing. Awesome!

I'm a college student who is constantly playing in either Jazz, concert, or marching band. I also have a job that keeps me at late hours. I believe that this is one of the greatest inventions ever made for musicians. It allows you to have the privacy to play where no one can hear you, which means, you don't disturb anyone, and yet you have the freedom to still make beautiful music. Two thumbs up from this upcoming musician.

Yamaha Silent Brass is an excellent product. The mute cuts the sound in less than half. The resistance from the mic/pickup is greater than a regular mute but the pitch is really accurate.Now I don't have to stop playing when the phone rings. The actual unit is very user friendly and surprisingly small. Everything you need is supplied and I would say it is really an excellent buy.
