Musashi Snare Drums Evoke Warrior Spirit

Named for the legendary 16th-century samurai, Miyamoto Musashi, both models evoke the spirit of a warrior's weapon with an aggressive look and distinctive, bright, and remarkably loud sound that's ideal for live performances.

Yamaha Musashi Oak Snare Drum
The NSD 1260M and 1365M are professional, small-diameter snare drums that can be used as main or effect snares. Their shells are constructed of 6-ply 100% Oak, a material known for its brilliant grain and unsurpassed strength and durability. Both models come sheathed in a black gloss Oak finish. The NSD 1365M features a 13 x 6 shell, while the NSD 1260M incorporates a slightly smaller 12 x 6 shell but adds a black-stained Groove-Wedge.

This is a great snare. I bought it as an add on for a pearl export. It has a distinctive 'popping' sound when rim shouted which sounds good if you use it as a secondary snare. The groove wedge is a great extra, It is the only snare that I will use for rim clicks. This snare compliments my pearl kit very well and from experience goes well with the whole Zildjian Z custom range. I would really recommend this snare to any drummer that wants to take their playing to the next level.

This snare is by far one of the best snares I have ever played on. I own 5 snares and this is my best. You can get any tone you want out of this snare depending on the drumhead and how you tune. On mine I have a Evans g1 coated for that bright sound but I have had thicker heads on it before and it's a lot warmer. The one downside about this snare is that with its small size depending on the stick you use you can't do a rimshot. But for me that's where the groove wedge comes in. I also use it for a louder rimshot. This snare is well worth the money.

This snare is very impressive. It has a sound you'd expect from a higher priced snare, but with a price that won't scare anyone away. It's one of my favorites in my collection. This snare will cut through anything. Tune it up high for a sharp crack. Turn the snares off and you have yourself a great drum for Latin. It almost sounds like a timbale. Tune it medium to low for a great deep punch that still cuts. Of course, with different heads it performs differently. I find it's more versatile with a 1 ply head, but your tastes may differ. Even when tuned high, unlike most snares I've played that are meant for a sharp crack, the Musashi doesn't lose it's body because of the depth. The only problem with this snare is that it seems to go out of tune a bit too often. I put some nylon washers to fix the problem, and it holds tune a little better. It goes out of tune a bit more if you play alot of rimshots. Overall, this is an amazing snare for the price. You just can't go wrong. Use it as a main snare, or a side snare, and enjoy!

"The best snare drum I've ever played"

I have owned a Yamaha Musashi 13"X61/2" for about a year and it is by far the best snare drum that I have played in 30 years. This drum has "crack," depth, you name it. I did in fact change the factory head and replaced it with an Aquarian Modern-Vintage coated head and it enhanced the overall sound quality of this drum. Buy it and you definitely will not regret it.

Yamaha never lets you down with it's quality. I purchased the 13 inch Musashi snare to accent my existing kit (which has a 14 inch snare) about a month ago and am extremely happy with this snare. Crisp, deep and solid with a gorgeous finish. Believe me if I thought this was not one of Yamaha's best efforts I would be the first to say so but for the price this is a kick bottom snare drum. Even comes with a Remo frosted drum head that works well with this excellent piece of kit. You will not be diapointed.
