This bass is by far, one of the most unique instruments in its class and it's all about the tone. The bass is as deep and tight as I've ever heard letting me be more articulate in the low register without losing definition. Fearsome attack, superfast response and incredible growly mids. Yeah, the wood is beautiful and the styling is unique, but it's the sound and rock solid construction that does it for me. Not a P-bass thumper, but an instrument of it's own.
Just bought myself a Warwick Thumb. Without a doubt it's best I ever played on, and the most beautiful too. I feel myself rich now. It's Valentine today: couldn't get myself a better girlfriend.
This baby has a mean preamp and nice quality sound all around. The wood is great also.
I dig the smooth sound on this one, but I honestly like the bolt on model better. It sounds punchier and more 3-dimensional and is likely to cut through the mix more efficiently with less tweaking.
Everything a bass should be. I have nothing but praise for the mighty Thumb bass. Once you play one, you'll be hooked. I own two other Warwicks as well; a 98 Corvette 5, a 96 Thumb bass 4 (7 piece Wenge+bubinga)and 02 Thumb bass 4 (9 piece Ovankol+ ekanga w/ebony board. Contrary to popular belief the 02 has a more prominent sound, with thicker low-mids, tighter lows and sweeter highs. The 96 is courser, and more transparent overall. In my opinion, don't be fooled into thinking the new thumbs are any bit inferior to the older ones, their just evolving for the better.
