This is a really nice bass.
I recently took delivery of a Warwick Corvette 4 string passive bass. It is even more beautiful in person than Warwick's pictures would lead you to believe. The body is only about 2/3 the size of my P-bass and it's very comfortable to play standing or sitting. The Corvette is not too heavy and it is not overly prone to neck dive. The quality is obvious and its sound is outstanding. It is much better than my exceptional EMG equipped Precision. Thumping on the E and A strings produces notes that are crisp, defined, and punchy. No muddiness here and plenty of bottom. Popping the D and G strings results in a tight sound that almost fries the air. Chords, hammer-ons and pull-offs sound great. Twisting the pan knob to the neck pickup gives you a smooth round Motown fingerstyle sound. Sounds awesome through my Hartke head and Eden cab. It's a kick to play and you won't want to put it down. And yes, they do growl!
this bass is truly something.its really fun to play since this is not a wimpy bass. the neck is huge and the bass is very heavy. however, I don't think this bass is as versatile as some other basses I have played. I personally like my Spector Euro 4 more than the Warwick because it is much more versatile and I can go from death metal to jazz with it. however, the Spector costs twice as much, and I really like the fact that Warwick used bubinga for the body and neck since it gives it a really cool slap sound. I think it is best played slap or with a pick. if you have long fingernails it helps too. overall a steal for the money.im still wondering why other companies don't make basses like this. this bass is actually better than some alembics. Warwick rules!!!!!!!!!
I actually have a fretless version of this bass. It's really an amazing instrument- very easy to play and a great, deep tone. Harmonics on this bass sound excellent. The only thing keeping this bass from being perfect is the cutaway- it's really not deep enough to reach the high notes. Otherwise, a great bass.
Do you play golf or baseball? There is a feeling that you get (or more accurately, a lack of feeling) when you perfectly connect on a swing. There is no vibration back up the shaft of the club or the bat, meaning that all of the energy went into hitting the ball a long long way. That is very similar to the feeling you get playing this bass. When you strike a note, you feel little vibration up the neck and in the body of this fine bass. The energy of the note stays in the string and does not get distorted by vibrations from the body "giving in" to the the string. The resulting tone and sustain are usually only found in instruments costing twice the price of the Corvette. Play one. You will be instantly hooked.
