I bought the double sided Vic Firth practice pad to practice my rudiments before purchasing my first drumset. I have to say I am very happy with this practice pad. I used the hard rubber side a lot which gave the feel and bounce of a real drum when I hit it and it wasn't too loud. I used the other side for quite play and it still gave the great bounce of a real drum. All in all, I was extremely happy with this practice pad.I highly recommend it.

My friend has this pad and they are absolutely amazing..... the only thing I suggest is making a rim to simulate rimshots..... otherwise 5 stars from me.

The soft quiet side is not exactly quiet. If you're gonna do an all nighter practice, this is not the pad for you. The soft side is also not the greatest for speed practicing. The hard side of the pad is good though.

The HQ and even the cappella gum rubber pads are great but a little pricey, especially the two-side versions. Unless you have money to squander, its better to pick the Vic pad.Even their two-sided version is about half the price of their competitors and similar in construction and quality. This pad is imported from Taiwan, but who cares? The quality is fine as with all VF products.

The Vic Firth Practice Pad is great for practicing. I got the 2-sided model which has 2 different feels. The softer side has good rebound and really cuts down on noise. It was cheaper than other brands, plus Music123 had it for less than anyone else.
