To sum up the whole review in a few words, "these sticks are awesome!" They came with almost perfectly matched sound. They fit in your hand nicely and bounce off the drum head smoothly. Where they really shine is in the drum roll, these babies really want to show off. You can't go wrong with these sticks. I recommend them to anyone, beginner or pro. These sticks get the job done.
I like these sticks so much, I'm reviewing them. They are my favorite. The small round tips are great for rolls and have a beautiful response on your ride cymbal. The thick diameter and butt end can give you that fatback sound, but you should be aware of the fact that the slightly larger diameter of the stick can have an impact on technique. For the low price, you should at LEAST check out a pair. Vic Firth rules the stick world hands down - in my opinion. These SD2 Bolero sticks are sweet little assets to that dynamic ability I know you crave so much. In particular - get a look at that small round tip, because that is the essence of this great stick!
