TASCAM MP-GT1 Portable MP3 Guitar Trainer
TASCAM's MP-GT1 is the first MP3 player designed for musicians. Based on the award-winning CD-GT1mkII, this fun mobile guitar trainer includes enough memory to store up to 240 songs. Guitar parts can be slowed down, looped and even eliminated to help you learn new riffs. Play back MP3s using Variable Speed Audition, which slows down the speed without changing the pitch, and sections can be seamlessly looped while practicing tricky passages. Songs can even be pitched up or down to match the tuning of your guitar, so you don't have to re-tune for every song.
The guitar input lets you rock along with thick overdrive and multi-effects, including a guitar canceler so you can play along with your favorite bands. A tuner, metronome, and rechargeable battery are also built-in. All of this is packed into an MP3 player smaller than a stomp box, so stuff it in your backpack, gig bag or back pocket and hit the road.
The MP-GT1 uses a high-speed USB connection to load up MP3s and charge the built-in battery. Zip through your MP3 collection using a data wheel, dedicated buttons and a graphical LCD display. A rechargeable 9-hour lithium ion battery is built into the unit, and an optional power supply is also available.

I was just looking for a device that slowed down songs while keeping the pitch the same, and the TASCAM MP-GT1 Portable MP3 Guitar Trainer delivered. The sound quality as you approached the maximum slow play was wanting but still perfectly clear enough to work with while deciphering the fastest Yngwie Malmsteen riffs. That's all I wanted. But the device has many beautiful variations and combos of FX that make it so much fun to play through. I heard others say the FX were lacking. But I have a Boss pedal stomper rack that holds seven FX pedals, and the TASCAM MP-GT1 Portable MP3 Guitar Trainer's FX settings meet and exceed its capabilities for practicing. I plug in my PC speakers to the output instead of headphones (though they are great too), and crank the output and appreciate amazing sound with almost countless FX combos. The convenience factor cannot be beat. The 1gb capacity is more than enough to hold enough of your favorite songs. The metronome is great for beginners, the various tuning methods are so convenient, the ability to loop and repeat sections of songs for practice, the ability to up the gain of your guitar or the song you're playing to on the fly, and to up or drop the main output volume, this device kicks butt! The battery life is awesome too. Plus, you can charge it through the USB cable or the optional ac adapter. Also, if you get an adapter from the 4mm headset output to a guitar cable and plug it into your amp (as i did to my marshall amp) you can enjoy playing through the amp with the song you selected and the FX you have on the settings. It's all in what you expect, and I was hoping for a basic tempo/pitch modulator and got infinitaly more than I bargained for.
I love this device!
