Why Buy

The Tama Tension Watch makes it easy to tune your drums. Tunes by measuring the actual tension of the drum head. Now spend less time tuning and more time playing.

Tama TW100 Tension Watch
Good tuning used to take years of experience and often tuning each drum felt like it took years. Not anymore. The TW100 measures actual head tension not just the rod-tension on an easy to read meter so you can record the numbers and duplicate your best tuning time after time. Or you can use the suggested sample tunings in the directions.

Tuning your kit is almost as tedious as breakdown and set up before and after gigs. The Tama Tension Watch Takes the guess work out of tuning. A must have for the serious drummer.

When you are really thinking about taking your drums(kit) to the next level, then it is time to get this little tool. Its not all as fast as they say but its faster and much much more efficient than standard tuning systems. I have tuned drums for years by ear, and I got pretty good at it, but the Tension Watch made things much better. I Love my new Tama Tension Watch and I'll never let this great piece of machinery go.

Apart from drumming, I also play guitar which make me quite sensitive to the note differences. It's been a hard time for me to learn how to tune the drums well, especially to get an even pitch around the skin of drums, tried TAMA TW100 to eliminate the frustrating situation, and I love it, but the down side is that I still found pitch differences between the skin near each lugs.

The first time I used my tension watch, I tuned my entire kit in less then 20 minutes. I have an 8 piece kit. The cool thing is it saves so much time and head ache. After I tuned my first drum, which took me 5 minutes, I tapped the edges of my drums with a drum stick trying to hear if there was any variation in the sound. There was none! It was consistent throughout. If you're a drummer you must get the tension watch it will make your drums sound better in a lot less time. 10 stars out of 5

I bought a tension watch a while ago. I loved it. It took no time to tune my drums. It especially helped with the low frequencies. Unfortunately, one day I came home from a vacation to find my tension watch with the pin stiffened. I found out later that when people came in to re-do the woodwork in my drum room, they knocked it on to the floor. ALWAYS PUT IT BACK IN THE CASE WHEN YOU AREN'T USING IT, and don't let anyone else touch it. It's an 80 dollar piece of equipment that breaks if you drop it. I'm buying another one though because it was so useful. It's especially nice to do a quick tuning before a show and not have to tell everyone around you to shut up as you listen for head pitches. It makes bad kits sound pretty good too. With a new set of heads, it brings any drum set to its full sound potential. The tension watch doesn't work on drums with die cast hoops though. It also doesn't work on marching snare drums with Kevlar or Mylar heads.

After wearing my ears out trying to tune my new set, I got one of these and it has really changed the way I think about tuning drums. I used to dread having to tune 'em, but I just got done tuning my entire kit in less than 45 minutes!(and it's an 8 piece double bass kit) Now it sounds perfect!! All I can say is WOW!!!......wow man.

I thought with all my years off tuning drums I could do it quicker and easier with out an item like this. other than the dismounting- this is quicker than ever and right on. just figure out your desired pitch and go at it. any head can be replaced and with your top and bottom numbers- like nothing ever happened. A+!

I bought this to help tune my new heads and i was surprised at how easy it is to use. You just put it on the head and tune away! In a half hour it made my kit sound great! This is a great innovation and is a must have . Great job TAMA!

I was a sceptic, but I got my tension watch a week ago and my drums have never sounded better. After setting the tension on each lug to the same value in the watch (which took me about 10 min the first time), I took a drumstick and hit all around the skin: same pitch all over, I was like "WOW!, I guess it wasn't a waste of money", Only complaint is that it should bring the little bar like the drum dial to allow you to measure tension at the exact same distance from each lug. Also it's fragile, so always put it back in the box after use.

The Tama Tension Watch is the most useful musical item I have bought in a long time. Within 15 minutes I can accurately tune a 6 pce drum kit. I have been playing and tuning drums for 11 years but this device gives even skin tension a new meaning, especially if your kit is a couple of years old. The tension lugs may feel like they are being tightened evenly, but one stiff lug can throw your whole drum out. If you are a serious gigging musician or you are having difficulty getting the sound you want from your drums BUY THIS ITEM!
