I needed great pedal response for jazz music being that your constantly playing it on the 2's and 4's. This was perfect and it could hold the weight of my side snare perfectly. this is definitely as good as all other high hat stands. The only problem I had is that I wished there was a base to the bottom of the pedal but so far, not having one hasn't caused me any problems.
