TASCAM MF-P01 4-Track Portastudio

This recorder is really great to have around, just to record ideas to or to make demo tapes. It is extremely easy to use as well also it can record more than four tracks, after "mixingdown" so to speak you can make tracks 3-4 free and record on them again. Way to go Tascam.

This is a good practice piece of equipment.

This is so easy to use that the kids at my work (early teens) are busting out their own demos. It's not going to help you produce the next "White Album", but if you just want to get some home demos or keep track of musical ideas, it's perfect. Also, keep in mind, the better quality of mic you use is going to improve the sound, and I run a small tube compressor before it to keep sound levels from spiking.

I loved it to death. About 6 months after purchase, the input died. I never beat it up there wasn't so much as a scratch on it... and it died. Needless to say I was unhappy. I'll probably go digital now. You might as well spend a little more and only have to buy once.

I just got the Tascam 4 track tape recorder for Christmas and I love it. It has great sound (for tape) and it is easy to use. The only problem is that when you record a distorted guitar track, and then try to record another, you can't hear the first track very well which makes for timing problems. I use it mostly for clean recording anyway so it isn't much of a problem for me. Other than that, this recorder is a great deal and I use it all of the time.
