When I first started playing, I played with a Bach TR300. But just a few months ago I decided to try some new trumpets. I tried trumpets ranging from the Xenos to the Strads, and I even tried trumpets like the Kenstul and Taylors. The Mambo offered the most goodies. The Kenstul and the Taylors were great trumpets that offered a great sound and response but they were heavy. The xenos were loud trumpets with great range, but they lacked that soothing sound. The Strads, much like the Stomvi, had a beautiful sound and awesome range, but it lacked the response that the Mambo gave. The way the valves move and the way the sound of the trumpet adjusts from piano to forte, was incredible. By far the best all in one trumpet you can buy for a resonable price.

This trumpet I find is first rate when performing Latin jazz and big band, it's upper register is superb. I really enjoy the Brash edge that can be achieved from this wonderful instrument

The Stomvi Mambo is an EXCELLENT horn. I have spent about a year looking for a new trumpet. I have tried the Selmer Concept TT, Bach Stradivarius which were custom models which the store had in stock, the Bobby Shew, James Morrison and Xenos but not even one of them compared to the Mambo. The Mambo gives excellent responsiveness not only in the upper register but in the lower and middle ones as well. The sound is also crisp and clear. It allows free blowing and can really scream. I play in several ensembles and I can make it do anything. The long legato notes are great and so are the staccato notes as well as everything in-between. Not only is it a great horn, but it comes with everything you need to play and maintain the instrument. All in all, the Mambo deserves more praise than I have words for.

I tried the Stomvi Mambo and Elite. The Mambo was really great for playing loud and hitting high notes. My range is not very good on my Bach, but I could hit just about any note I wanted on the Mambo. I would've bought the Mambo, but the Elite fit my playing style better; I would've stood out in my section with the Mambo. I really recommend the Mambo for anyone who knows he/she will be playing a lead part all or most of the time, or who just likes to play really loud and high.

Without a doubt, the Stomvi Mambo is one of the finest, easiest playing upper-register horns I've ever owned in my 60+ years. A super screamer with first-class valves and workmanship - a superb horn. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

My step uncle and I spent an afternoon checking out all of the professional model trumpets. I was interested in one that was easy playing but also focused, direct and edgy in the very high registers; My original inclinations and recommendations were leaning towards a Schilke, Calicchio or Bach Strad. However, after 3 and 1/2 hours of playing many different models of trumpets, the Stomvi Mambo was definitely the horn of choice. We tried everything: Getzens, Courtois, Calicchios, Schilkes, Marcinkiewiczs, Yamaha-Zenos, Yamaha-Bobby Shews, Taylor-Chicagos and even the Bach Limited Edition Strads (which came in second), but nothing came close to the free blowing and easy upper register response we experienced with the Stomvi Mambos. TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT!
