The LightSnake USB provides the easiest method for musicians to connect their instrument to their computer for recording by simply plugging the 1/4" tip of the LightSnake in to the instrument and the USB end to a PC.
With the LightSnake, anyone can plug their guitar, bass, keyboard, or other electronic instrument directly into a PC, eliminating the hassle, clutter, and learning curve.
This product worked perfectly right out of the box. I plugged it into my MacBook, and within seconds I was laying down tracks in Garage Band. The cable is super-beefy, with a tough transparent plastic outer covering. The connectors look bombproof, and they have green LED's that glow when you plug them in. I thought it was great, until I realized that whever you're playing, the super-bright LED's flash continuously. Blink...blink...blink...blink...blink...blink...blink...aargh! There's no way to turn them off. I couldn't stand the blinking, so I returned it. 83db of signal/noise isn't bad; but it's hardly world-class. For a good, cheap, reliable, portable way to get your guitar connected to your laptop, this USB cable is hard to beat. I just wish they'd drop the blinking lights feature. It would be much better without the blinking (or with much less of it).
There is either something wrong with the grounding wire on my ôLightsnakeö cable or SoundTech is falsely advertising. It's extremely noisy and I'm not using the word "extremely" lightly. It literally sounds as if there is a jet engine running full steam a few yards behind an an amplifier with a mic on it when the gain is on. When the gain is turned off the signal is very weak. That doesn't sound like a description of a product that has "an embedded 16-bit analog-to-digital converter with AUDIO SIGNAL BOOST." I might as well get a 1/4" to Mini adapter and hook it up to the aux jack on my Mac. Trust me don't make the same mistake I made. Put that money to better use and get yourself a product thats actually crafted with some quality in mind.
this is a really cool cable. lets you record easily into your computer and make some good recordings. the quality of the recordings are good but no the best in the world. for the price its worth it. www.myspace.com/thefattys here are some songs i made with this cable. i hope it helps you.
I just got this in today, installed some of the Trial Software that was included (Sony ACID Studio 6.0), Pluged in the cord, and started recording. It was that easy. I used it with my DigiTech RP300A and it worked great. This has an awesome price for what it offers.
