Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set
The Simmons SD7K is the next step up from the popular SD5K, with the expanded functionality that will please drummers and complement any stage. The drum feel is incredibly life-like, with over 300 realistic sounds and an expressive hi-hat. The bass drum pad accommodates a double pedal. With a dual-zone snare pad, 20 preset kits and space for 30 user kits, the SD7K delivers state-of-the-art electronic sounds with USB connectivity at an unbeatable price.

No matter what style you play, you owe it to yourself to explore the world of recording and performance possibilities that electronic percussion offers. Live, electronic pads and hand percussion let you add exotic sounds that would otherwise require a large and space-consuming collection of instruments. Drum giants like Vinnie Colaiuta and Josh Freese incorporate electronic drums into their live kits, giving them a far broader palette to work from. Plus, with many bands playing live to sequenced backgrounds, electronics are essential for triggering and interacting with your backing tracks. In the studio, the wide variety of sample libraries available make electronic kits more useful than ever. Just play the song, and use the kit's MIDI signal to trigger your choice of samples, and you'll have drum tracks that can be endlessly altered as you mix. Replace the snare, kick or toms, or combine multiple samples for a massively powerful wall of sound.

Bass pedal sold separately.

I own this set, I got it for my birthday this year. I like it, it's good for beginners. There are a lot of different drum effects and a lot of pre recorded songs to help you get better.

First of all, this is a very affordable electronic kit. I bought 2 of them, one for me and the SD5K for my buddies kid. They arrived in a timely manner and were easy to set up. I play hard and loud and have heavy feet and love the fact that this kit came equipped with a double bass kick stand and pad. However, 2 weeks later, the kick pad for the bass drum stand worn through to the back of the metal backing and whether you have on headphones or are playing through an amp or plugged directly into an electronic 8 track and are recording YOU CANNOT HEAR THE BASS DRUM no matter how loud you have it turned up. There is a faint background sound that is deep but nothing that even slightly resembles a bass drum. I use a DW 7000 pedal with Iron Cobra Mallets. The other issue is that some of the tighteners on the drum pads will not stay tight for very long and I constantly have to re-tighten them every time I play. Other than those two issues, it is nice to play anytime I want and time of day or night.

Here is the low down. I got this set for recording and practice. I was very surprised at the response of the pads. I like the custom kits as I use the right rack to and made it a ride and the 2 cymbals both crashes. I played Roland Yamaha alesis and other kits. If you can not afford the Roland then buy this one. The velocity cure is great for getting the HH to sound louder. I liked panning the drums and it Has a very good sound You can hook up a double pedal.
