Nice axe! I bought this as a blem and can't find a blem. The spruce top and rosewood back are not only solid and very beautiful, but the dreadnaught tone is deep and stands out for its sonority. I just want to play it more and more. The mahogany neck is solid and true, and the fretboard has a deep rosewood hue that contrasts so much from dried out, bland fretboards that one often sees in this price range. Peghead inlay is highly attractive. I'll put new strings on it and maybe tweak the truss rod (due to Colorado weather) and have a guitar that will outplay and outlast those $$$ laminates that are so common on the market these days.

I've played a few Silver Creek instruments, and none of them disappointed me. This one was a little bit more on the bright side, especially for an instrument of this price when compared to similar Martin instruments. The rosewood sides and back are beautifully done, and with the proper strings, probably can give the pronounced, rounded bass that's desired by many. For those that don't care much for extra bass, this is an excellent guitar with a complete range and good sound quality.

"Worth twice the price...and more!!!"

I was extremely pleased with the D170 straight out of the box. To get an all solid wood guitar for this price is amazing...comparable in tone to several Martins and Taylors I've played....doesn't quite have the attention to detail in the finish...but easily worth twice the price I paid. I'm all set to order another just to have as a back-up...while the price is so low.

"What a Guitar !!"

I bought this guitar on sale for a give away price never expecting the knock your socks off sound that came from it when I tuned it up and put the pick to it. Unbelievable loudness and resonance. My friends still can't believe its sound. Took me about a half hour to adjust the truss rod and saddle height to my specs, and add a new set of my favorite strings, (That might be difficult for someone who doesn't know how, but I've done that to every guitar I've owned over 50 years), I play it so much that I've already sold two high end guitars that just did not measure up to its sound. This D-170 proves you don't have to spend a fortune to get high end sound in a low end priced instrument.
