Product Detail

Shure SM58 Mic
• Most used microphone in the world

• The Microphone defines the sound of rock

• Midrange presence peak helps vocals cut through the mix

• Full range 50Hz to 15,000Hz frequency response

Legendary for its uncanny ability to withstand abuse that would destroy any other microphone, the Shure SM58 has not only helped to define the sound of rock vocals on stage, it's also been used as a hammer to build stages and gone on to perform flawlessly later at the gig. Using a club's house system? You'll be singing through an SM58. And in the studio? Daniel Lanois always uses the SM58 or Beta58 on Bono's vocals.

The Shure SM58 Mic is world-renowned for its distinctive upper-midrange presence peak that ensures an intelligible, lively sound. Perfectly fits the hand, balanced for total comfort during long gigs. Frequency response is a smooth, vocal-tailored 50Hz-15kHz, and the price is a bargain considering its life expectancy.

"good but not great" by Klint

This mic is good for the money but it is nothing compared to a sennheiser. If you are willing to spend the money go for a good sennheiser and leave shure behind.

"Not the best" by rebellion117

I've been doing live sound for a while now, and I've found that the hype surrounding the SM58 is somewhat unfounded. After having used various other types of mics, I've found that the '58 is not the best-sounding mic on the market. I personally prefer the sound of an Audix or a Sennheiser to an SM58. The SM58's only redeeming factor is the fact that it simply will not die. I do sound for various local hardcore shows and can speak from experience that those sort of live sound situations are equipment killers. The only mics I trust in those situations are SM58s and my Samson R21s. (which are surprisingly durable for the fact that they're so inexpensive)Bottom line: not the best sounding mic, but incredibly durable. However, if you're in a live sound situation that's fatal to equipment, use an SM58.

"SM-58 Great!" by BluesBoy

These mikes are bullet proof! We use nothing but the 58's. Playing 200 one nighters a year, these mics take a beating; constantly being packed, unpacked and, of course, dropped a lot. They don't look like they did when we bought them, but they "shure" sound as good! As a working "bar band" musician, I recommend them for sound, durability and all 'round quality.

This microphone will take all the abuse you can throw at it and still provide one of the best sounds in the industry. We have 15 of these mics in our church and our singers love them! They get dropped almost weekly, and still perform.

"THE WORKHORSE IN THE INDUSTRY" by Happy User

Have been using mine for 10 years now, actually I have purchased more expensive mic's and cheaper ones, all of which are broken, this one still works great. It has outlasted all my equipment. I once left this mic next to my waterbed for a few weeks and it became full of moisture and would not work properly, after it dried out for a week it worked perfectly once again! Yes it's been dropped too! It's the only Mic I have left and I once had 8 Mic's. If anything buy it as a backup, you'll always be able to count on it. After all it's not discontinued after how many years on the market, atleast 20, it was a workhorse when I started and still talked about and recommended by many professionals today!
