I wasn't sure what to expect when I first tried the St. Louis, but looked forward to it as the Recital and Signature are such excellent instruments. The St. Louis is certainly responsive, even in resistance, and with typical excellent intonation. However it was a very bright sounding instrument. The Recital and Signature are well known to be "dark" instruments, but the St. Louis is striking in the other direction, and not to my liking.

I got this clarinet very few days ago and I love it!The light weight, nice gold and silver plated rings, very good ligature and a very nice case.I recommend this instrument to people who want a good light clarinet from good manufacture (not for starters)....

I recently purchased a St. Louis clarinet from WWBW. Their service is excellent and I highly recommend them. The instrument is beautifully made and I felt as if I'd been playing it for years. I'd played the same Leblanc LL clarinet for years and always found the tone a little thin, more akin to a chamber music sound. The St. Louis, with the Selmer C85 120 mouthpiece I found ideally suited to the instrument. The tuning is excellent in all registers and the lower register sound sonorous because of the tone reflector pads. The best clarinet I've played!!

I had just purchased the St. Louis clarinet for college in January . I fell in love with the clarinet the day that I got it. My teacher loves it too. It is so easy to get dynamics out of it and a great sound. The extra key is a little weird but I can make do with it.

This clarinet makes me realize that I have been working way too hard in order to obtain "my" sound. It seems well made, solid, and just the right weight. Even tone, projection and clarity with warmth and the ease of playing anything from classical to hard core, bebop jazz describe it best. My fingers just fall into place when I pick this horn up. The resonators on the three lower register keys make more of a difference than I thought they would. I can play loud and clear in the lower register and can also play as softly and cleanly as I desire. I also find it much easier to bend notes and just outright play than I did with my G-10 or R-13. I don't really like the small case it comes with but that is easy to fix. This clarinet is wonderful for the clarinetist that wants to be able to play jazz without giving up classical altogether.
