I have a 17", and it is extremely sensitive because it's so thin. (If you are a heavy hitter, then you may want to re-think buying this one.) It has a much different sound than other crash cymbals: a biting attack, with a medium sustain, and with the tone of a crash/Chinese cymbal. It sounds great by itself, but it sounds wonderful when crashed at the same time as a 16" or 18" crash.
I just recently picked up an 18" HHX Extreme. This simply attacks ( and I don't play all that hard ). Love the Chinese feel thru it. I find it to be very versatile as I play rock and blues and a touch of jazz. It works great with other HH ,HHX series cymbals as well. I matched it with the 16" HHX Stage crash , the 14" HHX Stage Hats and the 20" HH Leopard Ride. Awesome job Sabian.
