"Indestructible and sturdy - a fabulous case" by Mike Carbonneau

I'm a middle school orchestra director, so I've seen lots of sting cases get more than their share of abuse by talented adolescents. I bought one of these when it first came out in the 4/4 size and it has been terrific. I was attracted by the shoulder pad space, which is reason to buy it alone, but the durability is fantastic! Don't be fooled by the later thermoplastic lookalike knockoffs. This one has all the extras with the lifetime warranty ( and hey ... the bow brackets don't break and the latches are strong but quick to open). It's now available in 1/2 and 3/4 sizes ... so I'm spending an extra $15.00 each on my next purchase of replacement cases so I can eventually outfit the whole orchestra with them.I tune about 60 violins every day, and I do it during my prep period to save class time, so I'm sick of slow opening over priced cases with dirtied cloth tops and stubborn zippers that have snapped. The only possible drawback to these cases is that they have that modern look to them and so they will probably take a while to be accepted in the stodgy "retro" world of violinists. This is true innovation at its' best. Go ahead and buy one even if they look a little too "space age".You'll end up loving it!

"Follow up review - slight bow storage problems" by Michael Carbonneau

I have written a glowing review of this case, and I am still buying them for our school orchestra as planned. There is one problem, however. The bow storage area is indeed too close to the middle, as an earlier reviewer mentioned. I still think the case is great, but this design flaw is something I have to keep reminding the students about so that their bows don't hit the bridge when the case closes. I can't figure out why SKB hasn't corrected this obvious shortcoming. I still think that the case is the best out there, but I'm just warning people that they need to really shove their bow into the brackets so it will clear the bridge when the case is shut. It is also best to store the bow hairside in toward the sides so the hairs don't catch on the bridge. PLEASE SKB ! CORRECT THIS ASAP and you'll have the perfect violin case to sell with all of your other great products.

Very solid case,..secure closures,..and extra trunk space!!! Enough room to store the shoulder rest, rosin , and the neck storage has enough room for your pitch pipe in it's case!!! Exactly the case I was looking for, and only on this site can you get it this cheap. All other sites list it for $80-$133!!!!!!!!!!

It holds moisture very well. The wood has not cracked like other cases.
