Recommended Accessories

Rovner Light ligatures incorporate an old idea for creating natural sound. These ligatures work by softly holding the reed to the mouthpiece with no pressure points, just as if the reed were tied on with a string. Fits most hard rubber alto and some tenor and bari sax mouthpieces.
  • Free playing for modern styles
  • No pressure points
  • Adjustable fit cap

About Rovner Ligatures
Rovner Ligatures also greatly improve reed playability. Reeds that are totally unplayable on other ligatures will often perform well with the Rovner. The ability of the Rovner Ligature to extend reed life is unparalleled. More rigid ligatures actually hammer the cane fibers during vibration, eventually destroying the reed's tonal vibrancy. Not so with Rovner; most players find their reeds will play until the tips finally succumb to fatigue and fall apart!

Selecting A Rovner Ligature
Due to the design of the Rovner ligatures, they fit a wide range of mouthpieces. The above descriptions are general but are accurate for most mouthpieces.

I recently got this ligature and I am amazed with the sound. I had also bought a Rovner Dark along with a bonade. This outplayed both. I have a Pyne Signature mouthpiece(GREAT MOUTHPIECE) and I just started using the Rue Lepic 56 reeds. I would recommend this to anyone, it gives a beautifully smooth sound.

This is a great ligature. It allows me to make octave jumps up and down with little effort. It firmly holds the reed in place and is easy to take on and off. I love this ligature and will continue to play with it.

Hi. I have been using Rovner ligs for 11 years now. I use them on Alto, Bari and Tenor. The Light ligature is similar to the normal Rovener ligs, but has a rectangular cutout under the reed.On my tenor this has the effect of clearing up the tone. The ligature doesn't seem to be any 'brighter', it's more like a 'bass-cut' switch on a microphone: the low muddy bits have been eq'ed out. I find this ligature works well on my tenor (heavy old Conn copy) with a Runyon SR mouthpiece (very dark ).

I purchased this ligature from WWBW about 8 months ago. It creates a very good tone without jumping to an expensive mouthpiece. I play this ligature on a Ridenour RA MT-36 with an Ivorolon barrel, and the sound is amazing. I highly recommend this ligature to anyone who is serious about having a good tone and consistent sound. I have had one problem with my Rovner Ligature. My screw assembly bent because I screwed the ligature too tightly. I do recommend to be cautious when tightening this ligature, the screw assembly is not hard to bend. Other than this, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this ligature. I am purchasing another one soon to replace my old one.
