"Starter instrument but sounds clean"

Originally bought this for my wife who didn't want to go through the problems of growing hard fingertips with a traditional guitar. Good news is it stays in tune and has a nice, clean sound with good sustain. Bad news is that when you do have to tune it, the tuners are by far the worst I have ever seen. Plan on at least 1/8 of a turn of slop each direction everytime. Finish is good, pickup needed to be raised. Don't forget to buy a slide! Overall, a good starter instrument, but also, you will find it hard to locate training books for this, most have moved on to pedal steel and 10 string units. Still, a lot of fun to play. Fun to run it through an amp on high distortion or heavy reverb!

This is a good instrument for the money. The tuners are very cheap and sloppy, otherwise the components seem to be in line with the price. I play pedal steel and find on this guitar, the strings are lower (closer to the neck) than on my pedal steel, so my picks hit the neck as I play. It is only a 21" scale, so accurate bar placement is critical for good intonation and it doesn't have the sustain a longer scale would allow. It is not a pro's instrument, but it is inexpensive, fun to play, sounds good through a steel guitar amp, and it looks cool. I have several Rogue products and have found them all good value for what I paid.

I've played guitar for 35 years, wanted an entry level lap steel for learning and fun. The Rogue EA-3 stays in tune and is solid. The pickup is like a Squier pickup and sounds "good". I am delighted with this purchase. The legs are solid...the bag is great. The lap plays intune with itself. I tuned to open E for starters so that it would be simple for a guitar player. I bought better strings but have not put them on yet as the strings that came on the Rogue are really pretty good.

O.K. this is my first lap steel. First one I've ever played actualy But I've been playing guitar for 25 years. I can't judge against other lap steels but it seems to be made well, stays in tune, and sounds good what else could I ask for, I also own a Rouge mandolin and my father-in-law owns an acoustic both of which are also great. For the money you can't go wrong.

i'm having a great time learning how to play this thing. the tuners are going to take some getting used to {they seem to be a little inconsistemnt in their movement}. the finish looks really nice, i was worried that it might be too flashy but it is just the right amount of sublte sparkliness. the stand for it is really nice, but doesn't seem like it would take much in the way of abuse. all in all, a really great deal, especially for beginners like me.
